Fourth Leap

what has happened to my sweet easy going baby?!?! Fighting naps to the point of screaming bloody murder, eating way less and screaming if you dare to offer her that bottle or that boob when she doesn't want it. Then smiling and fine the next minute. Anyone else? We are 14.5 weeks exactly and I swear this has to be the fourth wonder weeks leap. I actually took her to the doctor because I thought something must be wrong with her. Nope. Said possibly a virus as her poops have been green but nothing wrong with her. If others have gone through it when did it ease up??

  • There are a bunch of posts about nap fighting( 4m sleep regression)
  • Yup. 4th leap here too. Awful. Supposed to last a whole month too.
  • The same thing happened with DD around 14 weeks, hang in there it will get better! Around 17 weeks she stopped the inconsolable crying, nap fighting (unless she's missed/skipped a nap) and bottle refusal. I took her for walks in the stroller when it was nice out to try to help her nap and lots of baby wearing!

  • Ours hit right around 15 weeks and was bad for a week or two. He is 17 weeks 5 days and has been a pretty happy camper all week, so even though the app says it lasts for like a month I think it is possible you get a little break. Supposed to get bad again around 19 weeks
  • Even though LO is 16w.  because he was 6 weeks early, the WW works on expected DD, versus actual.  I am dreading this leap as I have read from a bunch of other women how it's a tough one. I wonder how LO will actually measure up with it, because he will be just about 5 months when that leap occurs, but only 15w adjusted.
  • Things have been getting a bit better for us. Took about 2 weeks. Hang in there!
  • Yep- now that I think about it, we had fussy evenings for a few weeks and then they disappeared week 17. Not that it's any easier now with 4 month sleep regression but at least there's no crying. I felt bad for my neighbors!
  • Yes! My Dd is 14w and has been miserable! She acts like I am torturing her when I try to put her to sleep! It has been so difficult! I feel like she JUST got out of the 3rd leap and back to being my sweet girl only to start again!!
  • I hate this "leap"!! It is truly terrible and I don't understand why she screams at my boob instead of just pulling away.  :/
  • Thread jumping-

Has anyone had an EASY WW?  My LO is almost 19 weeks (17 weeks adjusted) and still seems really mellow.  She doesn't drift off as easily during the day, and there has been a spotty bedtime here and there, but overall she still goes down quickly and stays asleep once she's there at night.  Should I worry that she's not having a pronounced regression?  She is a happy, healthy, bubbly kid...

All babies are different, sometimes it's 3m sometimes 5m. I would worry a
bit if my baby didn't regress at all as its part of their mental development. I would say as long as she's reaching her milestones your ok. At 4m most babies can roll both ways, hold toys etc. Their sleep cycle also changes and is more similar to ours(REM to non REM). You may just have an easy baby and if so I envy you.

I'm in the easy kid boat right with you. I just keep quiet on these threads until he has his bad days  ;)
  • DD had a bad week and a half at the start of the 4th leap and for the last week or so has been fine. She really is an easy going baby for the most part, so maybe the rest of this leap will be rainbows and butterflies. Here's hoping. :)
  • I don't even mind the fussiness about naps it's the refusal to eat when she normally would! Was at 28, 30 ounces for a few weeks and now it's a struggle to get her to 20 ounces! She's still smiling and happy and sleeping well at night. The doctor just told us to follow her lead but of course when your baby cuts her intake by a third you stress! She acts like we are torturing her when we try to feed her. She's never had reflux and when she does eat she is fine afterward and relaxed. Her dream feed is her best one! Anyone else have anything similar with the eating? I'm hoping just part of this leap!

Yes! There were days when my son would barely eat and it would scare me! I would continuously offer but he would purse his lips... It was stressful and frustrating and it happened mostly in the mornings from his 7am wakeup to around noon (mind you, he normally eats every 2 hours). He's 18 weeks now and it seems to have stopped at 17 weeks along with the evening crying
