Breastfeeding questions

My LO is 8 weeks we EBF, when he's done eating he flings his head back and I swear he's taking my nipple with him. How can I get him to stop throwing his head back when he's done feeding?

Re: Breastfeeding questions

  • Has he slowed way down and is sucking for comfort right before that? If so, try to unlatch him when he's done eating, but before he clamps down and pulls.

  • Lurking from March.   What hold do you use while he's nursing?  If you keep his head in the crook of your elbow in the cradle hold that might lessen his ability to fling his head back, and when he starts to doze off, unlatch him.  If he's not finished, he'll root and reattach which is fine.

On a sidebar, does he spit up a lot?  Does he ever get really red around his eyes or grimace at times and smack like he's tasting something bad? (when not nursing)
