My husband picked my engagement ring 100% on his own without ever talking to me about it. I love how classic and timeless it is. We picked my band together. I love that I can rock just my band and it's still got some sparkle.

My DH picekd out these. They look like his mom's. I am happy but it is not the dream.

We went shopping together and picked out the setting together but DH picked out the center stone by himself. We went wedding ring shopping together (surprisingly these are not a set). I get compliments on them all the time and I've never seen another set like it since we've been married. Love that

Love looking at people's bling!!

I picked out my diamond because I wanted to have this ring forever (no upgrades for me) and I wanted it to be classic, simple and timeless. We designed the setting together based on a ring we saw and chose the wedding band together. It's been almost 6 years and I still get butterflies when I look at it!

Another reason I got simple rings is to be able to stack some future anniversary eternity bands with this set. I have my eye on some rose gold ones! 

It's a 1.53 carat antique cushion cut + eternity band made of old European cut diamonds, both set in platinum

I told him I wanted something that looked like it came out of a grand mothers jewelry box. I always thought he did a good job of picking it out. The outside wrap is my wedding band, in hind sight I probably would have chosen a stand alone band, but I still love it.

DH proposed with a solitaire (the center stone) because he wanted me to pick the perfect setting.

Ever since I first saw this ring, I fell instantly in love. Working in a jewelry store, I'm lucky enough to see so many settings, different cuts of center stones, sets, so on and so on. I knew I never wanted anything huge since I have such small hands. I love the plain band as my wedding band also, because I didn't want anything to take away from the ring I'm so in love with.

my husband went with his mother to pick out the ring (yes I know!). I wasn't crazy about the center stone so he and I picked out a new diamond before the wedding. I like my ring but not gonna lie, I was really annoyed when his sister got engaged and picked out almost the same ring. We've discussed upgrades for in the future but I'm not sure what I'd want.

DH picked out this one on his own. He showed me a few pictures randomly here and there of other rings to get my opinion, but my only real requirements were that I didn't want a super thin band or a big single solitaire due to them being so delicate. You can't quite see but the shanks are lined with little channel set diamonds as well.

DH secretly took my out of state sister to pick the engagement ring when she was visiting like 6 months before he proposed. It was basically exactly what I wanted and hadn't shown my sister of DH any ideas yet. I probably would have chosen smaller stones just because he spent most of his savings at the time. We picked the wedding band together. I wish the bands fit together better, but I didn't want a wedding band with a funny shape either, so this was the best option. They are good quality and pretty timeless, so hoping to pass them down my family one day.

Side note: resizing channel set platinum band is expensive. I lost 75 pounds before having DD and had to do it. They basically destroyed the band to get the diamonds and we had to buy a new one. Yikes. Good incentive to stay in a similar weight range.

DH had a master (and brilliant!!) plan. He took me out for margarita's and then casually dropped the, "Hey, let's go look at rings!" statement. He knew he'd get my honest opinion once I was liquored up. He got ideas of what I liked/didn't like and he took those ideas to design what I have now: a 1 carat, princess cut, near-flawless diamond. I'm going to be keeping him

@whataboutscience sadly resizing anything too much will affect the stones. I'm surprised the jeweler had such a hard time resizing your platinum band. Normally platinum is much easier than gold to work with since gold has what's called a metal memory. It eventually wants to go back to where it was and that's how people pop stones and break their shank.

Not gonna lie, I had to shove my sausage fingers back into these rings to take a picture. I've had them on a necklace for about a week now. 

My rings are exactly what I wanted. A small round solitaire on a thin white gold band. My wedding ring is a simple, thin white gold band. My husband picked the ring out all by himself and insists he looked at diamonds for hours. He likes to tell me that this diamond is pretty much flawless and that all the bigger ones in our price range looked gross under a microscope. 

It it is nothing extravagant and surely not awe-inducing, but I don't think I'll ever upgrade. This ring reminds me that when it was purchased we were 24 years old, working our asses off to get by, and that the boy I fell in love with in high school wanted to marry me. We've been together for more than 13 years and married for over 5. 

I will, however, get them redipped and cleaned because the white gold is turning yellow.

I told him I wanted my ring to be sapphire, not diamond.  He doesn't really listen when it comes to these things. At least he got some sapphires on the ring somewhere.  Hopefully we can upgrade eventually...

DH picked this out on his own. Said he was going out for cat food, but came home and proposed. It was the only ring he took out of the case because he said it reminded him of me. I love it! We went band shopping together and I wanted something understated.

These are all beautiful! I would casually drop hints about what kind of ring I wanted when we were talking about getting married. I knew I wanted a 3-stone ring, and DH said it took him maybe 5 minutes of ring shopping to find mine. He said it was the second ring he looked at, and he knew it was the one. I am so in love with it! We picked out wedding bands together. Mine isn't part of a set, but the stones all line up perfectly. We're coming up on our one year anniversary next Sunday and I still get super distracted by how sparkly these are

Pardon my dry old lady looking hands. Anyway, here is my lovely ring and wedding band! I had them fused together so this ring never spins on my finger, which is awesome. I absolutely love how unique it is - I've only ever seen one other person with anything similar to this shape. Everyone who sees it says, "That ring is so you!" It really shows the thought he put into it.

We received his grandparents rings.  I love them. Before we knew we were getting them I was actually looking at antique styled rings and fell in love with a similar looking one. They are soldered together.

Wow, so many pretty rings!! I picked mine out almost a year before my husband proposed (because I am a psycho lol). When he finally took me to the store to look at rings, I went right to it, tried it on, and was in love! He was concerned it was too 'gaudy' but I quickly reminded him that people would think he was ballin for getting me such a nice ring (at not a crazy cost - but no one needs to know that lol). Now he loves it and is always grabbing my hand saying "It's so sparkly!!!!"

Husband picked it it out all on his own. No assistance. He knew I wanted a princess cut solitaire and nailed it!

Not going to lie, I'm jealous of all of you with the cute dainty fingers! That's never been me but they're more bloated than ever!!!

DH picked mine out on his own, no input or anything. But I love it! I had originally gotten two single wedding bands, but I started reacting to them after a year. We recently upgraded to this guard and it's exactly what I wanted, but they didn't have it when we got married.

My engagement ring is my great grandmothers ~1920's and my band is my grandmothers ~1945. Love getting to keep them close to me on a daily basis. 

I have to wear them on my right hand for now because I broke my left ring finger playing football this summer and had to have them pried off at the ER. Was going to have them resized but will now wait until after my daughter is born. Just an FYI- if you ever hurt your finger, take your rings off immediately. No one wants to be at the ER on the 4th of July with this...

Dh proposed to me on a cheesecake (no ring) after discussions we'd had on the matter. I don't care for lots of jewelry and financially, I think it's a waste. We knew we wanted to be together and that's all that mattered to me. Backstory: I had said, "I don't care if you propose to me with a cookie" so he went with that and did a romantic proposal with cheesecake from my favorite place and flowers around our apartment. 

I picked my band out on my own while I was on vacation without DH. I called and asked him if it was okay if I bought it and he said yes. Haha

When we went to his parents for xmas, DHs mom gave him his great aunt's ring to give to me as a surprise. I adopted that as my "engagement ring" then transferred it to my right hand after we were married. I don't really wear it anymore unless it's a special occasion. Like I said, not big into jewelry. We've been married for 8 years (next month) and I have no plans to upgrade. 

ETA: E-ring received 8 months after our actual engagement... pardon that one time I tried to make acrylic nails work on my man hands :P

DH and I picked out my ring and wedding band together and I love them. However nothing beats DHs ring as it was my grandpa's. He passed it down to him and I shortly before he passed (we weren't even engaged yet) and every time I look at it I am reminded how perfect my husband is for me and how much my loving grandpa could see it before we did.

My husband knew I wanted something unique and not a big solitaire (I have small hands) and that I was partial to white gold. He showed a couple rings to my sisters but ultimately choose himself. I loved it then and still do now! No plans to upgrade. We picked the band together but because of the curves in the engagement didnt have a lot of options this is what fit the best the extra diamonds were a bonus LOL! I've never seen a ring like it and have had so many compliments on it!

My weddings rings do not fit AT ALL anymore. I tried to shove them on and my finger instantly turned fat and red. So here they are. I actually wear this $5 green Walmart ring now. Works great. I feel naked without my rings so I went with this.

DH picked out my amazing engagement ring all on his own! He must have heard me say I didn't like round stones and he knew from my experience with rings that I need thick bands to withstand everything I do with my hands. It's not a set but I thought the wedding bad paired up ok The band we picked out together. They aren't soldered because I didn't want to ruin the engagement ring. No upgrade planned for this girl, maybe just another band to represent our babies ❤️

My husband wanted to make sure I loved my ring, and since I am not a fan of surprises, he let me pick mine out. I love my ring...the picture doesn't do it justice. Its sparkles way more in person ☺

@agradi The jeweler told us ahead of time that was how it would be done. Because it was channel set, just reshaping the ring would compromise the settings of the stones. That's why they put it in a new band. It's a pretty credible jeweler as far as I know and our research suggests simply resizing a channel set is unprofessional and will risk losing stones.

Edited to add: It was sized a full size down.

Is it an eternity band? That's the only time I've seen any issues with channel set bands but I haven't seen it all.

I am with @maddmama and my rings don't fit right now. By afternoon, my fingers are swollen enough that my ring finger hurts. So sad! I will be going out and getting a cheap fake one because I have noticed that people notice the belly and then notice that I don't have a ring on my finger, and that is annoying....

I was a single and pregnant last time around. It was the most liberating thing. Own it mama! Even if it isn't true

@PhoebeJune1984 My coworker put her rings on a necklace because she said she felt so judged when people would look at her belly & then immediately look at her finger. Hello?? This isn't the 1940's, times have changed. Perfectly ok to have a baby without being married to someone! I'm married but I give a huge kudos to single mamas!

One of my student's grandmas picks up a lot, and I guess at some point before I was really showing the kid's mom told her I was pregnant. Her response was to gasp and say "IS SHE MARRIED?!" I find her concern about whether my child will be born in wedlock hilarious.
