Same as PP, floor playtime, or I'll read to her with her sitting up but then she leans back into me when she's had enough.

When she sits on her own (very short periods) she gets fascinated with her feet and leans forward... I end up sitting her back up because it seems like she's waaay too far forward. She doesn't fuss or anything though. I thought falling back would be the concern but it's the opposite... how far forward is too far? Reading back that seems like a dumb question... but it just looks so unnatural when it happens!

ETA: by on her own I mean I'm not holding her up, but I'm still right there with her...

My little guy has a natural interest in it, so I don't know that you can make them want to if they don't want to on their own, that part I feel like is more of a
waiting game. As far as practicing sitting, we've done a lot of sitting on the floor with him, sitting him up and letting him find his balance. I keep my hands up ready to catch when he falls, but I let him fall a little bit before catching him so that he gets the idea of what he needs to do and how it works. He also sits up on his own from being propped on the couch and then I usually just let him do his thing (of course making sure he doesn't fall off the couch, but a slow fall into the couch cushions is fine by me).
  • He will sit up for short periods but then will find his feet and go forward. I know it will take time but was interested in what others do to help with it. I got him a bumbo seat during feeding time to also help him sit up with the little bit of added support to help him learn. With solids coming soon, I was to help strengthen him to sit up more on his own.
  • They'll all be sitting up soon enough!
  • LO does "baby sit-ups" where it looks like she's trying to do crunches.  When she does that in my lap facing me, I grab her forearms (letting her grab my thumbs) and gently pull her up to sitting.  If their head drags, stop, but if they lean into it, pull them up and let them marvel at seeing something other than the ceiling!  Then I make faces at her and make her giggle until she slumps, then we're done and I let her go back down.  I've tried propping her up with pillows but she's not into it, just slouches.
  • Bridget does crunches and really wants to sit up.  She's great in the boppy or if someone's behind her, but the second she gets excited she arches her back.
