sick...sick...sick

Hello all!  This is my first pregnancy.  My first 2 months were rough.... I had to get fluids through IV's twice and I lost 10 pounds.  I am now at 14 weeks and it seems to have come back just as strong :(  I'm talking alllllll day nausea and throwing up when I can (I'm a school teacher and can't run out when I need to).  I am starting to think that it's not going to go away!  I feel terrible because I can do zero housework and when I do I normally over-do it and am terribly sick afterwards.  My hubby works 6 or 7 ten-hour days and is also exhausted when he gets home.  He still cleans up but it makes me feel awful and useless.  I have tried everything and I am also taking two nausea meds prescribed by my OB.  Does anyone have any words of advice??  I keep telling myself it's going to get better but at this point my hope is fading :(

  • As previously mentioned, the symptoms thread would be a great place to start.

From experience, all I can offer as advice is if you're already taking nausea meds and eating foods and drinking beverages that help stave off the sickness, just remind yourself it won't last forever and keep on moving. I was miserably ill with my first the majority of the pregnancy so I understand your pain. Just do what you can when you can and keep moving. It will EVENTUALLY pass.
  • My nausea and vomiting with my DS didn't stop until I was 25 weeks, at which point I felt comfortable allowing myself to start taking zofran. I had lost close to 15 lbs at that point.
I know a lot of women have their sickness taper off, but some don't. I'm at 12 weeks with this pregnancy and am still just as sick as ever. I expect it to continue until I start zofran around 25 weeks.
Really you just have to deal with it if you're doing all or some of the recommended treatments. With my last pregnancy I had the option (somewhat) of taking it easy, which is of course all we want to do when we're so miserably sick. Now that I have a 10 month old I have to push through, no choice. If you want to get the house clean, you CAN. It will suck, but it's not impossible.
Sorry you're dealing with this. It's an unfortunate part of pregnancy.
  • My dr gave me Diclegis which help alot, I am 11 weeks pregnant and still have some nause but am mainly fatigue.
