How far along are you? 29w-1d and starting to really feel pregnant!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant, just soooo busy at work and stressed out about everything it seems I'm an emotional mess and it doesn't help that I hardly sleep. I go from boiling hot to freezing and H I swear is going to kick me out of our room soon lol or I would if I was him. I try to sleep on my side but then my hip really hurts so I switch and then surprise surprise the other hip hurts. Rave - finally finished the baby blanket I was making, it'd big enough for a freaking adult oops but whatever it will be great with the baby and his big brother cuddle up
What are you doing to prepare for baby? I feel like not nearly enough!
Questions?
GTKY: I'm lame today...What is your favorite budgeting advice that you try and follow? If budgeting isn't your thing, what do you wish you could do better?
I am fairly good with money but hubby has issues, and no credit so we are trying to build that plus plan for when I step out in maternity, he may be changing jobs so that's stressful right now to and plan for a wedding in March so busy and costly next year coming our way!
3 of my grandparents, and now my great-uncle (like a 3rd grandfather) have now passed from complications due to Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, my family has had a lot of experience with it, so it's always ultimately a blessing and a kindness when the fight is over.
The good news is in the last 10 years Alz research has made leaps and bounds, and should continue that trajectory. So, hopefully maybe our parents, our generation, and certainly our LOs won't have to deal with its cruelty when we get older.
@parsonsperson: It must have been so hard caring for your grandmother the way you did, seeing the disease progress little by little as it does. You're absolutely right.
Hi everybody! I've been working like a crazy person all morning and only bumping it up now to give myself a bit of a mental break. I'll just check in now and hope to read others' reports at my next brain-break.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: just trying to manage my nausea... I thought 2 diclectin at night was the answer, since I'd been doing it since Thursday night with awesome results, but today I feel uber nauseated throughout the day (not constantly but in major waves!). Rave: looking forward to my appointment tomorrow because it'll mean a shorter work day! I need that! I also look forward to the appointment itself and then dinner with my bff after.
GTKY: I'm lame today...What is your favorite budgeting advice that you try and follow? If budgeting isn't your thing, what do you wish you could do better? My hubs and I have "fun money" every week that is money from our joint account that is for both of us to use as we want no questions asked. That works well because we have totally different priorities for how we spend extra money. I actually spent all last night talking with a financial adviser dude at our house. It made me feel like a grown up.
@crdo I am so sorry for your loss! Even when it's expected, it's still hard!!! My thoughts are with you and your family!

Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Its going to be a long, long court day, close to 10 hours!! But the judge is buying our lunch, so that's a rave! Symptom: All of a sudden my hands and feet are swelling up. So that's new!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Buying a lot of clothes. I have a clothes shopping problem that has transferred from me to my kids!
Questions? Is anyone else having swelling? So far I haven't had high blood pressure or protein in my urine, but I haven't been to the doctors in s month. My ankles and hands are so swollen which I never had with my son. Should I be concerned or is this just part of being pregnant with twins?

i'm terrible with money! Luckily my husband is great with saving! My way of saving for these babies is buying Target gift cards with each paycheck to use for formula when they're here. I have to get creative when it comes to saving money!
rants raves symptoms : WHY in the world and I still throwing up ! My goodness I'm over it and I have got the worse sinus infection I have ever had and after consulting Doctor Google I freaked myself out . They said it could cause contractions and preterm labor yikes ! So I called the doctor and they prescribed a z pack . I am almost always drug free I hate medicine so it really scares me to take drugs with a baby even though my ob prescribed them .. Hopefully that part goes away and if it miraculously clears up my morning sickness (wishful thinking lol) life will be amazing
what are you doing to prepare for baby: not a whole lot ... I should do more haven't even started on the nursery and everyone keeps buying me so much stuff so I haven't even bought one thing yet. I am really uncomfortable with the whole baby shower thing because I hate when people buy me things . I love to give gifts but suck at receiving them ... So the idea of having that many women buy me things makes me uneasy but I lost the battle and my shower is May 7th
budgeting trick : I am very frugal .. I have spending money unless it is for other people . That being said my favorite trick and it has worked like a charm is putting 40% of my paycheck in a different account that I don't have a debit card or check to . If I want money out I have to physically go to the bank which is never easy . I live 40 min from town so it's a chore . With my insurance this little one will cost me 4K to have so this has helped me set that aside as well as more to buy her stuff that we don't get as gifts . It's easy to forget about the money I never see and it accumulates pretty quick . Even if you out 10% in a different account it's a great tip!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: So so tired, because I'm waking up at least once every night. And so anxious, I'm trying to make a to do list to get organized, and I can't even think what needs to be on it, I feel like a FTM all over again. I just know that I have 9 weeks left and feel like I have a ton to do, and not enough time.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Today I need to order my breast pump from my insurance company. And I still can't decide between the Spectra S2 or the Medela PISA (which I had last time). I feel like I should get the Spectra, at least to have something different, and if it sucks, I can use my PISA from last time...
Questions? Does someone want to decide what pump I should get? I am having a hard time making decisions today.
GTKY: I'm lame today...What is your favorite budgeting advice that you try and follow? If budgeting isn't your thing, what do you wish you could do better? I suck at budgeting, I wish I could do it (DH is better at money management than I am). I just feel like things pop up that I need to get that can't wait (ie, a mattress for DS's new bed). I don't spend recklessly, I just don't have a budget.
@jaceyannie I did a bunch of research on swelling this morning, because for the first time last night I noticed that my feet looked a bit swollen. Apparently, edema (swelling during pregnancy) is quite common in the third trimester, and not usually a cause for concern unless accompanied by other symptoms that may be associated with preeclampsia (rapid weight gain, headaches, dizziness, changes in vision, etc.). Your best bet is to talk to your doctor or midwife just to be on the safe side. And if you have an appointment coming up, she should be able to ease any concerns by checking your blood pressure and for protein in your urine.
@jaceyannie I've been swollen since week 18 I think. My feet are swelling to the point it feels like the skin is going to split wide open, and my hands are now puffy and I can no longer where my wedding ring. I keep mentioning it to the dr at every appointment, but since she says my BP is great and all other stats are good, there's no need to worry. I have an appointment in a couple hours and I'm going to bring it up again because it's truly awful.
I'm just jumping on the GTKY part because I like this topic: since we got married my husband and I use a budgeting app call You Need a Budget and we track literally every penny we spend. Then we run reports to see where the money is going. That's helped figure out where we can cut back. We also both did the 52 week saving challenge (for every week of the year you save that amount of money so week 1 is $1 week 52 is $52 and for each person that saves a little over $1300 in a year. We were able to buy our brand new, beloved couch for cash and it felt awesome! I do the challenge in reverse since we spend more around the holidays so this year through April (I paid ahead) I've already saved $800 for the challenge. It's gotten me a little addicted to savings and I love seeing that account go up.
We also like debt snowballing and we are down to one credit card and his truck loan. Once the truck is paid off in the fall then we will pay off the rest of that credit card and work on getting me a new car with the intention of keeping the payments the same as his previous truck payments. Between the two cards I paid off and this one we will have an extra $400 a month that was going to credit card debt that can go to savings.
I love a lot of Dave Ramsey stuff (although I do believe every one needs a credit history and background).
Now to figure out how to pay off student loans....
@colesmom33 I asked the doctor at my appointment yesterday and while she said the swelling definitely looks painful, my BP is perfect and there are no other signs of Pre-E so just keep an eye on it The only thing she said was to try wearing the compression stockings but my only thing with that is I'm already a sweaty mess and those make me so hot! Plus I doubt they would look attractive with the flowy skirts I've been wearing to stay cool and semi professional. (I'm aware the look of them bothering me is a stupid reason not to wear them, but I feel like a big blobby whale and I guess I'm holding on to a little shred of vanity) I'm just trying to drink a ton of water and keep my feet up as much as possible.
