Infertility

Exercise after iui

I had my first IUI on Saturday. I had another on Sunday. I asked the RE if I could resume exercise normally and she said to go moderate. I exercise about 5 days a week and I have been inactive for the last week because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to. What is all you opinions on exercising for the next 2 weeks. I'd like to go back tomorrow.

Re: Exercise after iui

  • I was told to avoid overheating and to not start any new exercise regimens, but other than that I could continue  with what I normally do. I have a little cramping for a day or so after my IUIs so I avoid exercising until the cramping stops.

  • @LadyMillilDid you also have any stomach issues? I only took a shot of ovadril, no other drugs but i have had a slight upset stomach for the last few days. I was wondering if it was related.
  • I lifted lighter and stopped running. I would walk on the treadmill at an incline, but didn't go the speed I usually do or the incline. I continued yoga, but modified (no deep twists, no inversions). I stopped horseback riding.

  • I continued my regular exercise: walking and running, barre, dance, yoga etc. doing Ivf now so going to take it a little bit easier.
  • When I was doing IUIs I would modify to walking for 30ish minutes for about 3 days after the last IUI, then continue with a mostly normal running routine, with maybe a few less miles each week, so maybe 1 less each run. I wasn't successful with any of my IUIs though, but I'm not sure if exercise had anything to do with it or not.

I've had a little cramping but nothing else. I haven't used a trigger shot.
  • I couldn't even entertain the idea of the gym right after my IUI....the next day and until about 4 days after I had bad cramping
  • My RE hasn't said anything about exercise, but my acupuncturist told me I could walk and swim, and that's it! No yoga, no running, no lifting (all stuff I normally do). Maybe she was being overly cautious since I've had such a hard time, but I trust her and I'll do whatever she says. My TWW is all about walking the dog, swimming laps, acupuncture, getting massages, and generally relaxing and being nice to myself!
