When we got our crib back in January, I was super excited to put it together. So I managed to convince DH to help me out at 9pm on a Friday night. And then a piece wasn't working. So next morning, I show up at the store, and tell them I'm going to need a replacement piece. The woman at the store dares telling me that I'll need to bring her some other pieces for her to let me have whatever she's about to give me (seems like they changed how the assembly was done between the model I got and the other one). She got the preggo look of death, let me leave with the pieces, and told me to call her if it didn't work. Well it didn't. We agreed they'd send me the other crib she got those pieces from, and I literally lost sleep over whether that crib would work or not because this was the last one they had in stock, and it takes 14-16 weeks to get a new one, which wouldn't have made it in time. Thankfully for them, it all worked out.
Also, what's the deal with all the different size batteries in everything?! Can't they include the batteries in there?
This is quicky becoming a pet peeve....BATTERIES! I'm tempted to skip the whole batteries in every freaking little baby item. I'm just overwhelmed with all of it. I mean I grew up in the 80s or rather was a baby then they didn't have all the bells and whistles like stuff does today and we turned out fine. Everything takes batteries. Might as well buy a case from Sam's or Costco.

*****QBF****** We buy batteries in bulk, but also, we rotate out the toys with lights/sound/etc. so that they're not all out at the same time. The classic toys (blocks, stuffed animals, puzzles, animal figures, books, etc) are always accessible. This way, we're not running through batteries too quickly and DS doesn't become over stimulated or over-reliant on toys entertaining him, rather than entertaining himself with the toy.
Our crib was a nightmare to put together because we realized we used the wrong screws for part of it so then the other pieces wouldn't fit. I was so nervous about it falling apart when we put her inside it that I put almost everything we had inside in the crib to make sure it didn't break. If it held all of that it should hold the baby!
Think of this as practice for future Christmas assembly! The best advice I received on putting together stuff is never wait until the night before, because what everyone says will take 20 minutes usually takes like 2 hours.
I have all the pieces to an Ikea dresser laid out on baby boys floor just waiting for hubby to decide we're going to get started! Want to test a relationship? Assemble a room full of Ikea furniture together and if y'all are still on good terms when y'all are finished, then you'll be together forever!! Lol
DH and my dad put the crib together in about 20 minutes one weekend after my mom yelled at my dad for starting it without DH. Our dresser, glider and night stand were fairly easy to put together but DH is the same as many PPs...he just wants to try to figure out as he goes rather than reading directions. His dad is the same say. Things are so much easier with directions..
Just an FYI for you ladies... If any of you have to call Graco customer service you (shouldn't) won't be disappointed. I had to call today bc the buckle on my car seat is broken. She asked when my due date is and expedited shipping on the new buckle bc she wanted to "make sure the buckle gets to you on time." She also didn't charge me for it. Very good experience.
