I Would Like To Teach My Baby.........

We always have something that we would want to pass down or something that we never were able to do and want our offspring to have the opportunity to do it...

I would like to teach my baby American Sign Language. I'm in the process of looking up courses for ASL in my area before looking into Baby Sign Language.

How about you ladies?

If they learn nothing else from us I would be 100% OK with that.

  • Where to start? To raise a child that's not an asshole is first on the list but there are a million other things...

I guess the one I'll share here is that both my husband and I love reading and I'd like to instill that same love of reading into my child.

  • @KJ1416 , I play music with heavy base at random times for 30 minutes so the LO can get accustomed to the noisy atmosphere... Hopefully that will work so the LO can let mommy sleep throughout the night *fingers crossed*

    Edit: gif fail
  • There are lots of qualities I hope to teach my kids that are mentioned by others - kindness, resilience, problem solving, etc., but in terms of skills that I don't have, I'd love for my kids to be able to play an instrument well. I took piano as a kid but quit (I can play 2 songs by memory and can kind of read music still), played flute for a couple years and dabbled in guitar but can't play either of those anymore. I really wish I had stuck with an instrument. DH plays guitar beautifully and has a pretty incredible musical ear - the other day he figured out a common tune on my keyboard piano by ear in just minutes, with no sheet music, even though he's never played piano before.

But if they're not interested in music I won't push it. I'll just encourage it from a young age and be super excited if that happens to be a strength/interest of their's.
