Teeth Anyone?

My daughter will be 5 months next week.  Her two bottom middle teeth have broken through her gums and one of her far back right molars is pushing against the gum (white but hasn't broken through).

She is able to hold a teether in her mouth and has been chewing (and drooling) on everything.  Distraction helps, as well as frozen breastmilk in a mesh feeder bag.  What are some of your favourite teething remedies?  It's so sad seeing her in pain :(

Re: Teeth Anyone?

  • LO's 2 bottom teeth are poking through.  He looooves to chew on his banana teether (has rubber teeth).  He also loves to bite my knuckle (I wash my hands and fold my middle finger and he chews on my knuckle).  I wet the corner of a burp cloth and I put pressure on his gums as I clean them.  He likes it and tries to bite my finger.
We also do orajel after a feeding if LO is still uncomfortable.

  • We don't have teeth yet but I'm pretty sure he'll be getting his first two around the 5 month mark (he's 4.5 months now).

My current favorite solution is the raz-berry pacifier (https://www.walmart.com/ip/8832437?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=135&adid=22222222228009105303&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=54268973831&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=89209448471&veh=sem)

We also have an amber necklace which I was skeptical of (it was given as a gift), but it seems to help my little guy. The drool is significantly less and he doesn't seem as grumpy.
  • Mine has the bottom front and the others gonna poke through any time now. We do frozen teething toys and teething that let's those seem real helpful

I can feel the ridge of a bottom center tooth, but it hasn't poked through yet.  We have a handful of refrigerated teething toys that we cycle out every 10 minutes when she's being miserable about it, and amother one that vibrates when she bites down (though she doesn't know to bit down hard enough, I have to squeeze it to get it going).  My ped suggested the super soft baby spoons dipped in yogurt (not a lot, just enough to give them a taste) and frozen mini bagels.

ETA also I love the silicone teething necklaces for mom to wear, now.  She doesn't chew on them much, but she yanks on them instead of my hair and clothes!
  • Frozen teething rings and Punkin Butt teething oil. The Punkin Butt was a life savor with my oldest!

Z cut his bottom front 2 teeth the week he turned 4 months. Hylands teething tablets, Tylenol, Raz-berry teether is a hit with LO. We also froze a wet baby washcloth and pulled it out for him to chew on. He seemed to like that too.

  • Thanks everyone!  I picked up the Razzberry teether today, she seems to like it :) Froze a washcloth dipped in breastmilk and she happily knawed on that as well.  It seems to be getting better each day, the teeth are a couple mm above the gum line now so I'm guessing the worst is over? (Until the next ones come in).

  • I have those gel teethers that you throw in the freezer. I've also been throwing all of his pacifiers and rattles in the freezer so he can chew on something cold at anytime but that's about it.
  • Our LO just had his first two pop through yesterday(bottom middles). He hasn't wanted any of his chewing toys at all, he prefers his feet and hands mostly.  Also, he's not really acting interested in his bottle either. I EP and supplement but we also started with cereal last week and he just has random moments where he could care less about taking a bottle. But maybe it's teething related?? Not sure.

  • Bridget's got no teeth yet, not even little white bumps under the gum.  However, she is drooling like crazy (I keep a bib on her while she's awake to catch it all.) and putting everything in her mouth.  She loves people's fingers and teethers, but hates anything cold.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

The excessive drool was what came the weeks leading up to the teeth.  We had no white bumps, I just felt a pain when she was nursing one day and there they were, already cut through the skin.

  • I had a dream the night before last that my DS tooth had popped through. So I checked his mouth first thing when I woke up yesterday and nothing. Few hours later he was screaming so I checked his mouth and there it was!! His other bottom should be here soon. He's 4 month and I can't feel or see any other ones trying to come through but with how much he's hysterically screaming the past week I wouldn't be surprised if there were more!
  • He's definitely teething but no teeth visible yet.

For any STMs, I nurse my son at home and only pump bottles for daycare. Does it hurt to nurse a baby once he has teeth? Does it hurt at first but then get better kind of like when he was born? Does it depend on the baby?

You might get a little score but it's not bad. The real problem is when LO bites you! Ouch! The first time my DD bit me I jumped bc it startled me. Well that scared her and she started crying and she didn't do it again for a while.
