TTC after 35

UPDATE: I'm kind of hesitant to post...(BFP mentioned)

hello ladies...well, so after 22months since we started TTC (3 losses), followed by 14 cycles of not being able to conceive, it appears I'm pregnant!

I've had a couple of wonky cycles recently...I'm guessing the stress of my man's illness and the AIP diet we've been on may have put my O date off; so I'm not totally sure if I'm 17dpo or only 7dpo, but I got a faint BFP last night and another faint one this morning.

I still have a lot of fear around miscarrying, so I'm gonna hang here for awhile and wait and see.

*****UPDATE*****
So I did a third test last night and BFN :(
Still waiting for AF to arrive. Looks like it's a chemical pg. I'm sad, but I'll be okay. The upside is we conceived on our own, and I'm on my fiancé's insurance now and we have fertility coverage. I'm waiting for my insurance card to arrive in the mail and we will make an appt for an RE.

Thank you so much for all of your love and support. It means so much to read your comments xoxox

  • I'll still hold out hope for you, but should you get AF don't hesitate to reach out if you need. I'm sorry for the BFN :'( sad day today.
  • Thank you @createillumination...
I am a little sad, but I'm relieved there's hope for the future. That's been the hardest part I think. I've suffered several losses and I've been needing a specialist and couldn't afford to go without insurance, and now that door is finally open!

  • I'm so glad you'll have the insurance soon! At least there is that. But no one should have to have repeated losses it is so cruel and unfair. You are a brave and strong woman!! For reals!
  • Oh, man. I am so sorry to read this. As @createillumination said, it's simply not fair that you've had to go through this repeatedly. You are brave and strong indeed.

I am so glad that, even in the midst of the sadness, you can see some good. I'm so glad you are on your fiancé's insurance now and that further investigations into what is going on will be covered.

Take good care. Thinking of you and rooting for you as you continue on this journey.
  • ugh so sorry to see your update. that really sucks. :( great though that you're on insurance now and can explore some fertility help and options!

Good to know though that you're feeling optimistic about the near future and have a  plan for moving forward if this cycle is not it. I went to Oregon Reproductive Medicine.  Feel free to reach out/pm if you're thinking about there and have any questions.
  • Thank you everyone.
I am interested in hearing about your experience for sure, thank you @BernieRae

@thistle8677 I'm so sorry to see your update, that feeling pure joy/excitement and then, just like that, taken away is the worst. I had a similar experience and remember feeling mad at myself for getting so excited, and also isolating, which is not healthy. Feel your feelings, write it out, cry it out, treat yourself to something, and so glad you're reaching out on here. Your positive attitude is right on. It takes what it takes, T&P for you, xo

  • *Lurking*

I'm so sorry to hear about your update. I can see all the positives - such as you got pregnant, you have better insurance, etc. - but I still feel sad. I can't wait for you to join us on the other side. Fingers crossed you get some good answers at the RE. Seeing an RE definitely helped me along the right path after a couple of losses. Sending you lots of love!

I literally just took a FRER and got a faint BFP...
There's no sign of AF. I do have a pounding headache, sore and very full bbs, and I'm nauseated.

Oh that's a good sign - super hopeful for you @thistle8677 FX!!

  • Lurking to say fx that this is the real deal!!
  • Good news about the RE coverage. I hope you don't need them.
  • If this is CP, then I'm so sorry for this loss you're experiencing.  Yes, as a practical matter, it's a very good sign, but it's still a loss, and my heart aches for that fact.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)
