December 2015 Moms

So so many photos!

Ok so DH and I have taken hundreds of photos of DD since she was born as I'm sure you all have too. I'm overwhelmed with what to do with so many photos especially when there are several of the same moment but I just can't bring myself to delete any. Wanted to hear how some of you ladies are managing this. My plan was to make an annual photo book but there are just so many photos! At this rate I'd need one photo book per month haha.

Re: So so many photos!

  • I'm right there with you! For multiples, I keep my favorite few. I limit it to 3 and choose the clearest/best ones
  • Loading the player...
  • In in the same boat!!! I plan on printing them and putting them in a book as a go. I don't recommend annually though. You may get lost in all the photos.
I just recieved the first batch of photos I ordered today in the mail. I will be ordered every month or 2 and just working on it as I go.
I found a phone app that allows you like 85 free photo prints a month so it helps a lot :) and the pictures turned out awesome!!
  • I upload all our photos to our computer (from my phone, my husband's phone, and our camera) once a month (right after we take the monthly sticker on belly photos) :)

I upload them to walgreens and order prints of the favorites right then otherwise I would be lost in the photos as well. I bought two huge albums to start with and have been trying to keep to just 50ish prints a month. When I get home and I have prints that are similar I put them in a stack for family to take when they are over. I want to keep up with it for at least a year and then probably cut back to every 3 or 4 months? We will see :)

@alysa03 What app are you using?

  • Every month I send them off to my costco.com photo account. They are great and very cheap for printing photos, plus very easy to select different sizes if you want to enlarge any.
  • I'm uploading all my photos to my drop box and the ones I want printed to the shutterfly app and making photo books. I made one for his first month,  and I will do them quarterly going forward
  • @chodge29 is called free prints :) you do pay for shipping so at the end of the day it's about a toss up for cost. But I don't like how the Walmart app or Walgreens app is set up and I do everything on my phone :)
  • I make Shutterfly albums for 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12 months. After that for special events like birthdays and trips. I use the Project Life scrapbooking system for favorite family photos and memories. The Day One app has been awesome for documenting life's moments. Great on mobile and syncs with your computer. Add photos and journaling. Love it!

I use the Shutterfly app - they have free 4x6 prints pretty often, just pay shipping - and I also do the Project Life scrapbook. I just went and bought everything I thought I'd need at Michaels and keep it in one spot. Organized the photos in chronological order (which Shutterfly prints come that way if you order them in order on your phone) and do a page whenever I have a few minutes. The one today had 10 photos and took me about 10 minutes. Makes it easy to journal too. Got envelopes to put in it so I have his hospital bracelet and hat, sonogram pictures, etc all stored in it.
  • I will have to try the free prints app and maybe shutter fly and compare prices! Thanks!
  • This is what external hard drives were made for.

Also, look up the photo books by Artificat Uprising. They are gorgeous. I'm going to do one a year for Carlos, I think.
  • DH and I made a separate Gmail account and upload pictures to Drive. It's easy to do from the phones.

Groovebook! It's an app that you upload 100 pics in per month for $3. I have been using for a while. They're 4 x 6 and serrated so you can tear out if you wish. Super easy and well worth it. The quality is not amazing but it's good and means you don't leave 1000 pics in your photo album. Plus it keeps them contained in these little books that are actually super cute.
  • Oh my god I have the same problem...more so with my first. Haha poor second child! Anyway it's so bad that even four years later  I have only printed a handful. And it's completely due to having an overwhelming amount. Sorry not helpful at all.
  • Yup I edit down and limit myself. I take advantage of shutterfly free prints too. I love the quality. I haven't tried the free prints app yet but I do have it. I upload everything to Dropbox as a backup. I'm so happy I got a phone with more space though! I was gonna stay with a 16 gb as it was cheaper but I figured more space for baby pictures. Oh my.... So much pictures. I'm also doing a book. I decided to try work a little here and there so I don't get overwhelmed at the end of the year.
  • You are all so on top of this. I'm jelly! Thanks for the great suggestions. Now I have some homework to do. :)
  • I had the same problem until my memory card on my phone went corrupt and ALL the photos are unaccesable :s I honestly hate thinking about it and am soooo upset that I never backed them up when my hubby told me to.
  • I'm no help. I have over 3,000 photos of Sophie since she was born a little over 3m ago. I think I need to make a book for each month but I honestly can't even narrow it down that much. My solution is to get a new phone, because I have no more room on this one to take videos. I'm obsessed, whoops!

I have been trying to edit myself, but my SIL mentioned she wishes she had more photos of her kids as babies, so self control is now out the window.  You all have so many good ideas for managing them!

Edited to make the ticker work.
