Anyone doing Shared Risk Program at Shady Grove

Hi,

So I am pursuing with IVF at Shady Grove, Camp hill office. I am 27 and I have Stage 3 Endometriosis with endometriomas on cyst. Also my AMH is low for my age (0.86). I wanted to apply for the Shared risk program they have, but my doctor told me she will have to get an approval from the committee.

Its been 1 week, still no reply, this wait is killing me.

Anyone here with low amh and endo got approved for the Shared Risk? Any info on how much time it usually takes to get approval?

Re: Anyone doing Shared Risk Program at Shady Grove

  • I'm with shady grove, but we have insurance coverage. I have a friend that did shared risk for IVF I think, but they had male factor. I hope everything works out for you!! Sorry I don't have any real actual advice!

  • I don't have any experience with the shared risk program as I have insurance coverage but am with Shady Grove as well! Just wanted to wish you luck and hope you get a response soon! Fingers crossed for you!Definitely keep us updated!
  • Thanks mtpbadger and msirni0, its great u guys have insurance coverage for ivf. I live in Pennsylvania and most of the states around it have ivf mandate. Ugh! I sometimes feel that I missed ivf coverage just by about 90 miles!

Anyways how was ur experience with Shady Grove? I have changed 4 RE's and finally ended up with Shady Grove. I have an option to do egg retreival either at Rockville or Towson. Do u go to one of these? Which one u think is better?

  • I love my RE (Dr. Moon) but had to switch nurses as the first one I was assigned I just didn't click with. She acted like I should have known everything and seemed very annoyed whenever I asked any questions. After switching nurses it had been a much better experience! I've been to the Rockville location once for an IUI and didn't have any issues and it was on the weekend. Everyone was really nice there but I'm finding that to be pretty standard at the various locations ive been to (other than one not so nice US tech that I dread getting) That's where I'll be doing my retrieval and transfer as well. I usually go to the DC or northern VA clinics for all my monitoring.

Which location would be closer to you?
  • My "home" office is bel air, but both of my IUIs fell on a Sunday so those were at the Towson location. I have loved everyone I interact with there. And if you're in PA Towson would be a lot closer for you.

  • What PA shady grove office are you at?? I am at shady grove in Pa and I go back and forth between chesterbrooke and bala cynwyd but only chesterbook is open on weekends or for the bigger procedures.  I have seen people from reading or harrisburg there on weekends.  Wouldn't that be closer than going to maryland??
As for the IVF program I can't say because we did a mini stim ivf and our insurance covered the procedures, not the meds so it was still expensive but not as bad
  • I go to camp hill office, it is about 20 minutes from my house. But none of the procedures are done there. The thing is the distance to towson is about 1hr 15m, Chesterbrooke is 1h 25m and to Rockville is 1h 45m from my house. So I want to go to the best facility as I am paying sooo much, everything is out of pocket and plus the distance to all the offices is about the same.

  • I honestly don't think you could choose wrong. I've never heard anything horrible about any of their locations and I know the Drs rotate at the main offices for ER and et. I know the Drs at the clinics in northern va and DC are at the Rockville location. You may want to ask if any of the REs at your normal clinic are on rotation at any of those three sites so you would have a better chance of seeing a somewhat familiar face.

I know they have a Facebook page, there may be reviews on there about the different locations for some more information.
  • Hi, I'm not sure if you've already been approved for Shared Risk or not, I hope you have, even though it's a big bill to pay.  We are at SGF in Annapolis and the doctor told us to do it, we have to do PGD and PGS.  For us doing shared risk was the right option as we have done two ERs and two FETs plus one that was cancelled.  Good luck and like others have stated you are in good hands at SGF.
