WTF

It's Wednesday right? So my late WTF - WTF child? I've put you back in bed 14 times in 20 minutes because your arm is cold, you're scared of the wall, your neck is scratchy, I need to cover bunny, etc. Go the eff to sleep! And she's up again.

  • Haha. This could be fun. Let's keep track of how many times our kids get up tonight and why. I'm just going to put mine to bed. I'll keep you posted

  • The excuses are insane. If I didn't want her to go to sleep so badly, I'd find them funny. Until she demands to call Grammy at 2am.

  • Do you ever write them down? They'll probably be funny in a few days. My two year old has started coming out of their room and saying "Mom. I have to tell you sum-pum." (something) "What is it Katy?" She has to walk all the way over to me and say "Um. Um. I wuv you." usually my reply is something like "I love you too, now get back in bed."
I don't care all that much if they talk to each other while falling asleep, except that they have to be asleep before I can put the 10 month old to bed. I can't wait until they do not all share a bedroom.
  • My WTF is I puttering around my house this afternoon and stepped on something sharp. I screamed a little. I thought it was a tack or even a sharp rock... no no... IT WAS DH'S TOENAIL CLIPPING. GROSS. I have seen some nasty things in my day, anal fistulas not withstanding. But toenail or fingernail clippings kick my gag reflex into overdrive. I'm not kidding, his giant toenail clipping WAS LODGED IN MY FOOT! It drew blood to take it out. And then I threw up. And then had to clean up the blood on the floor. Worst day ever. I swear, he could sever my Achilles tendon sometimes, his toenails grow faster than anyone I've ever seen.

This made me laugh so hard! My husband also has some nasty toenails that he has no idea how to clip. I swear to you that when we got married he asked me to clip his toenails because HIS MOM USED TO DO IT FOR HIM!? Um excuse me?? No I will not clip your toes, you can figure it out. He has no toenail etiquette... For example, the couch is not an acceptable place to trim your nails. Neither is the bedroom. Your one and only choice is the bathroom and you better pick up all the pieces!! I'm sorry you had a toenail tradgedy.. I feel for you!

Oh my God are they related?!?! I had to train him to do it in the shower... and even then he didn't completely rinse them down the drain, but it's better than having them all over the couch/bed/floor. When he got home tonight I lectured him about clipping etiquette again. He had major shameface when I showed him my foot. And then he got me a bowl of ice cream and gave me a foot rub... so he's forgiven for the moment.

  • @PSUBecky23 and @LeahKnits - I have a 3rd old who refuses to just go to sleep.  It's something different every night and always multiple times.  I have no idea what I'm supposed to do when this baby gets here and both kids have to share a room.  My 5 year old is the best sleeper I've ever seen and I'm afraid bunking them up is just asking for trouble.
  • My 6 year old is pretty good about sleeping now, but we've had several bedtime delays because "She needs more snuggles. Snow leopard is lonely. You didn't give me a kiss. I'm afraid of a picture I saw on the App Store. My stuffed Lynx is nervous."

  • @Tippy05 my kid better be back to normal sleep (she used to go down no problems until a few months ago) by the time this baby gets here. I can't.

  • @PSUBecky23 - I am laughing/crying at my desk right now.  I've heard about 80% of those, most in the last week.

  • I love HT so freaking much.

  • Those toenail stories are seriously too much for me to handle. I don't do feet. I definitely don't do toes/toenails. The sound of clipping nails makes my skin crawl

Maybe it'll be good? I know that my 2 year old doesn't sleep as well when she isn't sharing a room with her sister. I've found her in her sisters bed before. She gets a little scared and crawls in with her sister. And I think they don't feel like they're missing as much when they're together. When it's just one kid in there by themselves they feel  like they're missing everything. But when they're together, it's not so lonely. I dunno. I'm totally guessing about everything.
