Okay, so my discussion title might be optimistic, but...are we ready to talk baby names yet???
It's so hard to get good advice from people on names. I don't know why. Like, we're thinking about Peter for a boy, and everyone we talk to says "I love that!" But they can't all really love it. It's a synonym for penis, I know. Someone has to not like it. Plus, our last name starts with P, and I'm afraid "Petey P____" is too much like a cartoon character.
So, I need honest opinions. Also, I need suggestions for girl names. I love French names, but my husband is not on board with any of my many suggestions.
I love Peter, despite the penis thing. However, I might hesitate if my last name started with a P. His initials would be "PP". For a French girl name, what about Elloise or Francis? I love those names, but DH thinks they are "too Southern" (WTH?!?)
We have pretty much decided on Florence Rhee (we know it's a girl). Florence is after Florence Nightingale... I wanted to name her after a strong woman in history. Also it has the added meaning of my husband's grandmother being from near Florence Italy.
Rhee was my great grandmother's nickname. It is short for Marie ( but we didn't want to use Marie because it is my middle name)
I'm loving Ella Grace for a girl so H and I are talking about it. He's not one to make a rash decision (took him 7 years to propose lol) so it'll be a bit before we decide for sure.
Our top name choices that keep coming back are Vera Marie and Nicholas Glenn. We both have first names we like more but can't agree. The middle names have been settled. We had such a hard time naming our son that we starting bouncing names back and forth months before we got to TTC.
We're open to other options but we've been pretty much set on these names since starting to TTC (or maybe even before): girl is Genevieve Rose and boy is Liam Henry.
Liam is the ONLY boy name we can agree on, although I hate that it's so popular. I just hate almost every boy name and DH vetoed the only other ones I like (Luca and Elias).
I really like Eleanor and Evelyn, but they are both super popular right now which is a deal breaker for me, unfortunately. I just can't do a top 10-15 name, personally. I also like Adelaide/Adeline and Harriet.
For boys, I like Archer, Beckett, Harrison, and Wesley. Regardless of what he have, we need to do a looot more thinking on the baby name front and we don't usually agree!
We have boys names but can't for the life of us agree on a girls name. I'm loving Emma, but hate how popular it is. My DD is Adalyn (Addy), and I just love how Emma and Addy sound together.
I thought we had agreed on Henry Michael for a boy, but DH wants to "keep looking." Augh!
We chose both a long time ago too. A boy will be Owen Daniel, and a girl will be Sophia Christine. Bonus? I teach no children with either of those names right now I told my kids yesterday and today, and I'm not sure why the most annoying children think I would name my child after them...haha.
I love Henry for a boy and Indy for a girl. But DH hates them both. We probably won't name our little one until we are forced to like our last one. She had (and still has) rosie cheeks so we named her Rosalie. I really dig old names.
@kmalls Just curious- what's your son's middle name? We had a hard time picking something to go with it. We also like Owen Mitchell, but I think I like it more than DH does

Enzo is kinda, not really after my grandfather. James is hubby's middle name. Skye we stole from a TV show but we thought Skylar sounded better with Nicole, which was my husband's best friend who passed away.
I have a ton for girls, but top picks right now are Emmaline, Laila, and Annelise. Boys are Jason, Adam, or Alexander. Middle name won't be decided until birth, because we want to do middle name in the traditional Chinese style, so it will be picked out by my father-in-law (with our approval, of course).
Loving all of these names! We've had our girl name picked out for years. She will be Amelia Rosalie. I liked the idea of naming her after a strong, adventurous female and Amelia Earhart was pretty badass. Also, my grandmother was Rosalie Amelia so she will be named for her as well. If it's a boy, he'll be John Watson but we'll call him Watson. John is my H's grandfather who raised him and Watson is my grandfathers middle name. We want to pay homage to both grandfathers but since John pretty common, Watson will be what we call him.

Our other girl name was Rosalia but for some reason my dad and grandma don't like it (and the whole point was that it's a version of my grandmother's name so if she doesn't like it, what's the point haha), I think it's soooooo pretty!
@purelex@Piperella Alexander is my LO's name. It's the best! We sometimes call him Xander.
not totally set on names yet but I like Charles or William for a boy. Girls are much harder for me. I'm leaning towards Hazel (H's great grandmas name) either as first or middle name, but I also kind of like Elizabeth. Nothing for a girls name is really screaming at me, where we knew my DS's name years before we even got pregnant.

Boy names are so so so difficult! We named our first boy Jeffrey Michael for both of his grandfathers, and even though I didn't particularly love the name Jeffrey, it was meaningful and special and an easy decision. But if this new baby is a boy? Ugh. Our only name we're considering right now is Theodore, and call him Theo for short. His middle name will be my maiden name regardless of what we decide for his first name. We also really loved the names Jude and Isaiah but I have two recently born nephews and their parents chose those names. Ha
Girl names are way easier. We have a mile-long list of possibilities, but our two favorites are Larissa Louise and Evelyn Joy. (I've literally had the name Evelyn picked since I was TEN YEARS OLD and I read it in an antique book, and my husband loves it too, BUT it's so popular right now.
we have only briefly talked about it, DH has had 4 names of his own. In Tanzania its common to give your baby a name and then once they're 6mo-1 yr you give them a new name that speaks more to their personality. Then he also has a name from the Masai language but it's rarely used. Then he has a nickname that was used all through school because his first name (and last name) are extremely common. I rarely call him by his real name, hah.
He wants traditional English names. I'm thinking I would like if we do an English name, we do a Swahili second name. A child's middle name is ALWAYS the fathers name here, so basically the kid would have two middle names. We just have to be careful because certain names are particularly hard to say. My name for instant, Kelly, is NEVER EVER said correctly on the first try. So we have a lot to think about.

If it's a girl we're set on Hazel Mae (Mae being mine and my mother's middle name). If it's a boy we're going back and forth, I love Henry Lyle (MN is after my father's middle name), but DH likes Oliver Lyle.
