Where to find prenatal classes and groups locally?

Just curious where to start my search. I live in a smaller area. Also, about how far along should you be before attending them. I'm aware of the ones the hospital offers but would like to find other local groups and activities for moms to be. When should you go (in weeks) to the ones at the hospital (prenatal and breastfeeding)?

i think Google would be able to help you out here. just google "prenatal classes in (your town)". as for when to attend, it's really up to you. i took a 6 week class that went from Jan.18th-Feb.29th & my EDD was Mar.14th. a lot of the ladies there were due early-mid March.

If you live in a small town, your hospital will be your best resource. The instructors may know or have other groups outside the hospital setting. Each group will have its own requirements for when to attend, because depending on the topic, it may be best to do some early and some close to birth.

^^This. Your local hospital is really your best bet. I also live in a rural area, and Googling classes and groups in my area will come up with results an hour or longer away. However, I know that there's classes that meet every other weekend half an hour away, because my hospital advertises them.

Your hospital or babies r us. Most suggest taki ng them around the beginning of 3rd trimester.  So 26-30 weeks.

I went to the website of the hospital where I'm giving birth and found a bunch of prenatal courses to choose from.
