It's been a while since I've had babies on the brain, so I don't remember all the typical scenarios.
I have a friend who has been ttc and just got a bfp. She hasn't been keeping track and know when she ovulated. She had a bit of spotting last Thursday and got a beta and ultrasound. They couldn't really see anything that matched her beta level (around 11,000), so they had her come back in on Saturday. Her level on Saturday was almost 28,000 and they saw a sac that the doc said was about 5 weeks, but not as advanced as her beta level. They are having her come back in 2 weeks.
Has anyone had something similar? I had a miscarriage like this that went on until a D&E at 9 weeks, but the big giveaway was super low beta levels. You'd think the fact that they're doubling is a good sign, right?
Obviously, I realize that I'm not going to get a diagnosis on a message board. I'm just looking for experiences.
Re: Betas are rising, but sac is small
That being said, an anembryonic pregnancy (ie an empty sac) can still produce legitimate doubling hCG since the sac/placenta is what produces the hCG, not the embryo. She (or you) need to just wait it out and see what happens at the next scan. Experiences aren't transferable person to person, what happened to anyone here means absolutely nothing as far as what will happen to anyone else.
