Trouble TTC

Insurance and fertility question

My insurance doesn't cover anything for infertility (sigh). They cover nothing. So we have to pay for bloodwork, SA, consults, everything. So, we have decided to do an IUI because it's not super expensive and my dr feels it's a good option for us.
My question is, is there anything I can do to get anything covered? We are getting $1500 lab bills for blood work on top of the costs of the IUI. I'm wondering if there are any other programs I don't know about?

Re: Insurance and fertility question

  • Can you do any of the labs at another place? My RE suggested Theranos (inside Walgreens) for some of my labs because they are cheaper. We found a package deal being offered by an RE for uninsured ppl and there are some ivf clinical trials.

  • I don't have any IVF insurance coverage.  Right now I'm currently undergoing testing to see if I qualify for a clinical trial called the Megaset Trial.  My RE said it will cover just about everything, so I'm hoping it pans out.  If you end up moving to IVF I would ask your clinic about clinical trials!
