Insurance coverage

My insurance doesn't cover anything for infertility (sigh). They cover nothing. So we have to pay for bloodworm, SA, consults, everything. So, we have decided to do an IUI because it's not super expensive and my dr feels it's a good option for us. 
MY question is, is there anything I can do to get anything covered? We are getting $1500 lab bills for blood work on top of the costs of the IUI. I'm wondering if there are any other programs I don't know about?

    I have insurance through my husband's work. We talked to his HR folks and the insurance company directly and there is nothing we could do to add IVF coverage. You may be eligible for some medication discounts though, try Freedom Fertility and First Steps.

    I hate that infertility isn't covered by most insurance companies. I hope you can get some help!

    Following...we have awesome insurance but no fertility coverage...not even sure that there are any plans in MN that have fertility coverage. So far everything has been out of pocket...savings depletion...
    Best to you as you figure it out how to make it work. Hopefully you will get some great advice on here!

    Hi All.. Just wanted to add that typically the decision to cover/not cover infertility is made by an employer and not the insurance plans. I'm in MN and mine covers everything associated with up to 6 rounds of IUI per pregnancy - so the plans are out there! If you have the relationship to do so, talk to your HR rep about it!

    We don't have an HR rep here...its a 3 person office (non profit). And because I went for the higher insurance only part of it is covered by my work.

    MN here as well. I know MN has an actual Stature that says insurance can not cover drugs that enhance fertility. So I'm interested in this conversation lol. Granted we are moving towards our third fresh cycle and insurance is long over due for us haha.

    We had pretty nice insurance last year (Medica) and I don't think anything was covered but our prescriptions (most of them). I should double check it sometime. We have moved to a different insurance company (Health Partners) this year and nothing is covered :( (expect those same prescriptions)

    I say it is a shame that it is not covered :(

    I think this is only Medical Assistance. It doesn't have bearing on what employers can choose to cover/not cover on their plans!

    I have Aetna and I get six free iuis and last I heard unlimited ivfs but not sure how true that is. I get at least three I know that. I just have to pay $40 each time I go into the office--if it's a consultation, blood work or ultrasound. It does add up but I still feel super lucky and all of my meds were covered. I had to pay $200 for everything.

    madasm0530 and derrian  I have blue Cross Blue Shield of MN Silver Level-paying serious money out of pocket with the hope that if we did get KU'd that we would have awesome coverage....but it doesn't cover anything fertility other than some part of prescriptions and some of the early testing I think.

    Medicated April-December 2015: Clomid (didn't work) and so we tried Femera/Letrozole. Progesterone Met 1000 Not diagnosed PCOS but treating the same. Anovulatory. TI No US No O BFN

CCRM Vitamin Cocktail (like 20 of them), Monitoring (11/2, 11/4, 11/5, 11/6, 11/7, 11/8), Retrieval 11/10 (38 eggs, 30 mature, 16 fertilized ICSI), 11/16 8 Blasts 11/30 CCS testing results 3 Normal 5aa's (2 boys and 1 girl) 1 Unknown 4 Abnormal (All girls) 


    Fet #1 January 2017: CCRM - Minneapolis bcp/lupron/suppository/p4 in oil QOD AF 12/7, 12/8 start meds. 1/3 lining and blood work check 14/15 mm, BW check 1/6. 1/9 transfer with acupuncture 1 CCS/PGS Normal 5aa hatching Progesterone around 26ish? Lower estrogen level 207 (wanted above 300 but over 200 was acceptable), started 1 estrace, progesterone in oil every other day, vivelle dot patches 4 every other day, 3x estrodiol daily, vitamin cocktail. POAS: - 4dp5dt and 5dp5dt, 6dp5dt frer very very very faint line. 7dp5dt and 8dp5dt + on Accuclear. 8dp5dt pregnant on a clear blue easy digital. 214 pounds at FET
