how much work have you had to miss this far along. I'm 8w1d and went home early today because I am so neasous and it's not going away. I just don't want this to be a continuous thing, missing work
I'm on medical leave for a large SCH do I've missed a month. Hoping to go back soon...I'd also really love to be able to go for a run and do some yoga!
I'm not even 6 weeks and my hormones already seem to be exacerbating my inappropriate sinus tachycardia. I had to leave work early last week because my heart rate jumped up way too high and wouldn't come back down. My cardiologist told me to stop taking my beta blocker when we started trying, and my heart rate did fine as long as I wasn't pregnant. With my first pregnancy I was off work for a different reason so I was able to just sit down and get my heart rate back down when it got too high, but I miscarried pretty early on so I never saw if it got any better or worse with time. I'm worried it will keep getting out of control. I think all the hormones are doing it. Cardiologist isn't concerned, but I can't take care of patients if I'm dizzy and can't think straight. My boss is understanding, but it will be chaos for my coworkers if I keep leaving in the middle of a shift. I'm going to track my cardiologist down at work on Thursday and see if he can prescribe me something to just take as needed. I'm hoping that way I won't have to miss any more work.

I was actually having the same situation and worked from home all week last week. I was put on diclegis which has helped a lot. It doesnt get rid of all the symptoms, but it takes the edge off enough to get things done. Good luck!
Ugh. I was trying to explain to my husband that if I left every time I felt like shit, I'd never be at work (he told me to just leave). Plus the more days I use now, the less likely I am to have the full 40 to take around my due date since this is my second and I used a ton with her.
I got through last time by repeating over and over "this isn't forever". Plus, you'll find that nothing really helps- going home and laying down doesn't really make it any better, napping doesn't make you any less tired, etc. You might as well truck on through and save your sick time.
I only missed one day of school (which is essentially my job) because I was in emerg overnight. I did fall asleep during one clinical skills session when I had a super long day, and I've been barely present during a couple of tutorial sessions because my MS is worse in the evenings. Missing mandatory sessions is a really big deal - I need forms, a physician's letter, etc. - so I can't just call off sick, unfortunately.

I called in sick last Friday and I've worked a couple days from home. I'm having a really hard time juggling work, MS, and my toddler. My husband is a firefighter so he's gone all. the. time. I just went and loaded up on MS-friendly snacks for when I'm feeling queasy at work. Seriously, can I go home yet?

I missed last Monday. And today I left early. But I'm pretty positive I'm super dehydrated since I haven't even kept down water today. It's tough. You can't just stop working even if you feel like death.
It would be great if we could work from home the whole first trimester. I think I'd be more productive on my couch with a laptop and nauseated then sitting at a desk very very far from a restroom and nauseated.
Somehow I don't recall missing much work with my previous pregnancies though until later on.
I've not missed any work yet (I did take myself off a call shift I had previously signed up for though). We've been so crazy busy that it's hard for me to be ok with taking the day off to go feel crappy at home when we are so short handed at work. Thankfully, I only work two days a week usually, and I rarely work them back to back, so it's definitely easier to push through. I do work 3 long shifts this week though, and they feel especially daunting right now!
During my last pregnancy, I was interning and had to miss meetings in the morning pretty frequently.
Currently, I haven't missed work but my m/s really kicked in at 9 weeks so I'm trying to avoid using PTO until then. Fingers crossed it won't be as bad this time!

This. I personally don't have the days to waste just gotta keep on trucking!

So am I and so is DH, we are both Fire/Paramedics. I am working 24 hrs on 24 hrs off for the next 9 days. By the end of this week we will have not seen each other for 6 days straight. It's so freaking hard to juggle family/work with 24 hour shifts. I feel you so much!
I worked through my first two pregnancies and ended up telling my boss early on(8 weeks), he ended up being very sympathetic and allowed me to telecommute on my bad days. If you have a good relationship with your supervisor, it might be good to let them know ahead of time & let you save sick days. He also didn't mark it as sick time if I had to miss some work for doctor appointments.
In the several years that we've been trying, I have been on an intermittent leave of absence covered by FMLA. This covers all of my time away from work for appointments, which has been a life saver. Also, as mentioned by PP, I've had understanding bosses who allow me to telecommute as necessary.

I left work early yesterday because the nausea was awful. That was the first day I've missed since being pregnant. I'm sitting at work now wishing I had taken at least this morning off too. I'm nibbling on ginger snaps and drinking ginger ale this morning

I'll probably be heading back to work in the next couple of weeks. I work heavy highway construction so we tend to get laid off in the winter. I'm really dreading it. I have to be at work to get paid. No such thing as sick leave, personal days, vacation etc so I'll just have to suck it up. Hopefully this pregnancy will treat me better than the previous one.
