TTT 3/22

Re: TTT 3/22

  • 1. We still have so much to do before the baby comes but couldn't get much done this past weekend because we were too busy. There are only 5 weekends left before my due date so we better get stuff done this weekend.
    2. I'm feeling pretty negative today, I'm just so exhausted and sore and it is making everything seem harder than it is.

Ending this now instead of adding 8 more complaints. I need a do-over today.
@LadySamLady can I just copy yours?  I couldn't have said it better.  I hope your day and mood improves.

    1. The painter is here! Wahoo! He's painting the nursery, office, our master bedroom, and changing the color of some kitchen accent walls the previous owner thought would be a great color. But more importantly - NURSERY!!!

    2. I just did a 3 hour training session with the person who is supposed to cover me on maternity leave. Oy vey. Brain dead.

    3. Holy hunger! My typical breakfast and lunch that normally fill me up are not doing that great of a job today.

    4. I still need to order a shower dress for next weekend. I have been looking online, but I haven't seen the one. What really makes me pause when ordering is how they say your pre-pregnancy size. Even my pre-pregnancy size was different depending on the company. Usually an 8. Sometimes a 6. Sometimes a 10. But now that my boobs are even more massive, I have no friggin' idea what size I need, and we have no good maternity stores in our new location. I miss Pea in Pod at Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas so much that I want to make the 6 hour drive this weekend just to shop. And eat fabulous food. And visit a fancy spa. I miss living in Las Vegas.

    5. Need opinions -- are we crazy?! We met with a contractor at the end of February to remodel our master bathroom. It's not big by any means, big enough to cram a shower and bathtub on one side and a sink and toilet on the other side. At the time, the contractor said it shouldn't be a problem to finish by May 1 (I'm due May 17th, so I wanted a buffer). Now, he's saying they will have a fully functional bathroom by May 1, but still may need to do some touching up that following week. We're only here for 2.5 years, so I don't want to push it off, because then when would we do it with a newborn napping? And then would it even be worth the effort and money to not enjoy it for very long? Are we nuts to let them start demo? I'm thinking it's worth the gamble. I mean worst case scenario, I go into a labor early, end up with a c-section, and then the contractor and workers have to deal with me recovering in bed and potentially being an amazon woman nursing a baby. I'm totally cool with it, but I think they may be a little uncomfortable. Mama wants a friggin spa shower, okay?

  • @H0neyC0mb I can't believe you went in! I'd leave immediately. Oh my gosh.

    @Lusitano8 Thank you. :)

I haven't had BH either, at least I don't think I have. I am sure I would know if I did. It has me worried thinking I'll go way over my due date because my body doesn't even seem to be preparing for labor.

Some people have them and some don't, some notice and some don't. I didnt start with my first until 38 weeks or so, this time around its 30. I could do without!!!!

  • @missnc77 if it involves getting a spa shower, then I'd definitely go for it. Would your husband be home to deal with the contractors when you are in bed recovering?
  • kp90kp90 member

    1. SO is leaving NEXT week now instead of this week.. which makes me nervous the closer I get to my due date.
    2. I have my 4th birthing class tonight. They're inspecting our car seats.
    3. My feet always KILL me at said birthing class since I've worked all day prior.
    4. I think I am going to grab sushi on my way home from work before heading to class.
    5. Took a 30 minute bubble bath last night with candles. So worth it.
    6. Doc said baby is head down yesterday. Hoping she stays that way.
    7. I am exhausted lately and have nooo energy.
    8. My patience has been disappearing left and right. I get so annoyed so quickly.
    9. My restless leg syndrome is kicking my ass right now.
    10. Is it 430 yet? I want some California rolls ASAP!

Plus maybe if you're an amazon woman nursing a baby they WILL get uncomfortable and it will be incentive to get done sooner :P
  • @PYLWhammy - Yep. He gets 2 weeks of paternity leave so long as his commander approves. My mom will also be here.
  • 1. We had our 3D scan on Saturday and I'm so in LOVE with this kiddo already! :)
    2.  My hormones are getting the best of me and I just randomly starting crying this morning at my cube because I thought of how my mom will be sad if she isn't here right when baby is born (she probably won't be, because DH and I have decided to just call her and have her get book the first available flight she can when we head to the hospital.. IF it works out like that.. who knows!?).  We've had a lot of friends and co-workers going 1-2 weeks late, so I don't want her coming super early to just sit around and then have to leave sooner after baby comes.  I want her to HELP me! :)
    3. I am knocking out a bunch at work, but there is still SO much to do!
    4. I also made a ton of progress on the nursery this past weekend of getting everything washed and put away.
    5. DH and I started a pretty informal convo about guardians for baby.. it went better than I thought it would, so I think we may be able to come to agreement without argument.
    6.  My birthday is Saturday and I'm looking forward to doing NOTHING except eating whatever I want and dying Easter eggs.
    7. I would love to get a full night's sleep again sometime soon.
    8. Our neighbor just bought his wife a Maserati for her birthday.  DH is kind of obsessed with it every time we hear her come/go.
    9. I meet with HR next week to review my plans for leave and hope I get the official green light to be gone the rest of the year.
    10. EDD is 2 months from today!  Yes!

  • 1. It turned out to be such a nice day outside (low sixties) today! My class played on the playground for over an hour before pick-up, and they loved it! Unfortunately, the last I heard the weather is supposed to take a nose dive tomorrow. Got to love Michigan spring, I guess.
    2. My mom gave me a painting that my late grandmother did to hang in LO's nursery, and it is just so lovely.
    3. DH and I were walking through the farmer's market last weekend and we came across a man with an old typewriter who would write you a poem about anything, for any price. We had him right a poem for LO and we are going to hang that in her nursery as well.
    2. I'm back to the drawing board on a dress for my shower in April. The one I ordered literally made me look like a voluptuous, Pepto-Bismo flamingo. Not exactly the look I was going for.
    3. Baking dinner in the oven is my new favorite thing. Seriously. I got home from work around ten after six, and had a Mexican style chicken bake in the oven by 6:30. Currently sitting on my couch eating an entire cucumber while it cooks.
    4. DH is bringing me home Starburst Jelly Beans, YUM
    5. DH and I are talking about getting a new fridge before LO gets here, but it's more of a debate as to whether or not we NEED a new fridge. It would be nice, but the fridge we have now hasn't exactly kicked it yet. My whole thing is, if it decides to stop working when we have an infant, that won't be a good time.

  • 1. Spent part of yesterday hooked up to a fetal monitor, because I mentioned that I hadn't felt her move as much over the last few days (I suspect it was a growth spurt that she was just sleeping off though), and because I was cramping horribly all weekend (again, suspected growth spurt - bump is definitely a little bit bigger than I was a week ago). But what was supposed to be 20 minutes ended up being 2 hours. Everything looks just fine, but my tailbone was sooooooo sore from the angle I had to lay at. It's still a little stiff now.

    2. I'm on an iron supplement now, and it's brought my morning sickness back. At least now it's literally only in the mornings (I take the supplement in the evenings). The one I'm on is the Feosol that's supposed to have minimal side effects. Doc said to stick with it since it's one of the mildest supplements I can get, so it looks like I'm going back on the Diclegis.

    3. Visited with two pediatricians so far. DH recently found out his old pediatrician's son is now heading the practice that he used to go to so I stopped there as well, but he isn't taking new patients. Would probably have gone with that guy if he was available, but since he isn't, I'm trying to decide between the other two. One doctor is closer but has a busier clinic. The other one is a thirty minute drive, but is in a quieter area and the office is rarely packed. Neither has visiting privileges at the hospital I'll be delivering in, but I think I'm okay with that because they are much closer to home than the hospital is anyway. Leaning toward the second one as of right now...

    4. Booked the pub that DH is wanting to have a get-together with his friends at before the baby comes (I refuse to call it a "dadchelor" party).  It's also my favorite pub, and if the weather is decent enough for us to sit outside (the inside is not nonsmoking) I'll probably join for a bit.

    5. I have to pick out invitations though. So will be spending tonight looking those up.

    6. That cake @charissadeats posted looks super yummy....

    7. Nursery is painted finally. Putting up the crib & furniture this weekend!!

    8. Manicurist yesterday was allllll over my belly. Kept rubbing it. At first I didn't have a problem with it - I'm used to the massages she does that come with a mani/pedi - but there's a big difference between a foot massage and a belly rub. And the whole reason I specifically requested her was because she's one of the few people I don't feel awkward with when the massage part starts....not anymore, haha.

    9. For anyone that remembers it, there was a whole thing back in December about my blood type and how my mom flipped out and refused to believe I wasn't O+. She literally said that she had to "cut off contact with me" for awhile because of my "doubts". Well, when I did the 1hr glucose screen they did another check and yep, I'm B-. Got my rhogam shot yesterday. Mom isn't flipping out quite as much this time around, but she's definitely not happy.

    10. Still thinking about that cake...I think I may need to run to the bakery down the street tomorrow and pick up a cupcake or two for now...shower is in a couple of weeks and I'll have plenty of cake then!

  • 1. Had my work and family/friends baby shower and boy do I have a bunch of larger items to purches still.
2.I got tons of mostly 0-3 month clothes andlittle of other sizes.
    3. I was 25 min late to my baby shower on sat which lead to a meltdown.
    4. 30weeks 4 days prego and had my 30 weekk apt today.

    5. Not anemic and found out I passed myglucose test with a 108!
    6. Gained less than a lb from my last apt  at 28 weeks!!
    7. I am sooo exausted lately.
    8. I friggen hate maternity jeans.
    9. I am so tired of the snow/cold weather.
    10. Did I mention I was tired gahh!!
  • @amberraysofdawn I take Feosol too. It was really rough on me at first but my system got used to it after a week or so. I found taking it in the middle of dinner works best and I don't feel sick to my stomach like I did when I took it before or after dinner. I literally eat half of the meal, take my Feosol and then eat the rest.
  • 1. Still pregnant at 30.3weeks - win!
    2. I haven't felt hiccups - I thought I did last night, but then not.
    3. I want healthy home-made dinners...and someone to make them!
    4. I'm considering one of those Blue Apron or the like services once in a while. I would still cook, but at least the decision-making and buying are done.
    5. I've been having plenty of dreams about scheduling this c-s.  It should be tomorrow at my prenatal visit. One of the dreams involved my whole group of OBs going on vacation to FL together the week that I am supposed to deliver!  I really don't see my OBs vacationing together.
    6. confession: I watch Wheel of Fortune after the twins go to bed.
    7. my to-do list is over 30 items long.  time to get going!
    8. time to sleep!

  • @JennyS86 I wish I could do blue apron! but ordering for 9 would get ridiculous.  So I have the older girls make dinner twice a week.  No planning or cooking.  ;)

    1. It's snowed today.

    2. We have started in on the spring cleaning. It will take us the whole 10 days to get the house done.  I hate big houses.

    3. I had 3 hours of consistent, 5 minute apart contractions tonight.  They've started a little earlier than normal, but I'm sure they're not doing anything.

    4. The dh took the 10 year old to work with him.  They're in North Dakota right now.  She won't be home until Saturday.  I'm pretty sure she begged to go so she could skip out on the spring cleaning.

    5. My brother is moving out two months earlier than planned, which means losing out on $1,000 in rent.  Sucks.

    6. I've been telling everyone baby's name is Ahraya Sunshine.  They side eye me and stop asking. I really think my mom thinks that's her actual name, which makes me laugh.

    7. The lightning crotch is becoming unbearable.  At the store today, I leaned on the cart the whole time. Without it, I would have been stuck standing in the middle of the store, not able to move.

    8. Baby finally "popped." People are actually staring at my belly now.  No comments, though.

    9. My 6 year old is really interested in how the baby gets out.  I told him I push the baby out.  So he asks out of what.  I told him the birth canal.  He asked where that is and I told him to ask his grandma.  I hope I'm there when he does.

    10. I'm thinking its past my bedtime.

We do a local one called Madison and Rayne in the Chicago area and it's amazing to not have to plan for 2 dinners per week. I love that they focus on local when possible. If that matters to you do some research in your area, might be able to find a small business that's sources locally!

So far, we have had two meals...we signed up for the two-person plan that delivers three meals a week.

The first one we made was Hoisin Burgers with Shiitake Mushrooms and Bok Choy, with sweet potato fries on the side. That was seriously one of the best burgers I have ever had! The box came with the exact ingredients necessary to make enough for two people (including the condiments for the burgers), and it was still a really filling meal.

The second dinner was a Provenćal Chicken and Potato Stew thing (I can't remember the exact name) with garlic bread and aioli sauce. The stew was DELICIOUS. The bread was good too, but we didn't like the aioli sauce too much. I am still so fulllllll oh my gosh.

Because of DH's schedule, the next night we can cook together is Monday...when we will be making calzones! This is my favorite part of Blue Apron so far...that we are making the meals together. So far it's taking us more than the thirty minutes they advertise for every meal, but that's because we are both fairly inexperienced cooks (we don't usually make stuff like this), and we are both learning new techniques with each recipe. Like, I did not know how to mince garlic by hand before this. I just bought it in a jar like that instead.

It's only our first shipment, so we will see how it goes...but so far we really like it!
