I took DD to visit my parents for a few days out of town. I always talk about what a great sleeper she is (because she usually is) and tonight she flipped out! The reasons I came up with are:
1) New surroundings
2) Overly tired (only napped 2.5 hours all day)
3) Over stimulated
4) Teething
In the end I'm convinced it was her teeth. I looked at her gums and they were white and lumpy... Teeth are right there! She was screaming bloody murder! Like, sad crying... Not frustrated, like she was really sad. I cried of course. I felt so bad for her. We gave her some Tylenol and 30 mins later she was asleep (also why I thought it was probably pain/teeth). Anyone else had to deal with a super upset baby? Any tricks to calming them down? DD is so calm usually I had no idea what to do!
Re: Screaming Fit
Shes has been really upset and that upsets me because I'm handling it all basically on my own. I love my parents and I know they love to help and help her and give me a break but she's not used to it and she cries and they try to soothe her when she's to the point of no return!
Its hard when I know my baby and she is just out of her element, and it makes me paranoid, like high high anxiety. Anyways!
I just have to take her to a quiet room and try to have her comfort nurse. If she doesn't do that then I I just try a bunch of different positions when holding her to see what she can handle and then walk around. I'm like you, I freaked out also, I am DEFINITELY not used to this screaming banshee stuff! Sorry I'm not much help.
Once her sleep got back on track and I think the growth spurt ended, the teething has been a little more manageable.

Edit: also the classic frozen wash cloth can help with that pain while waiting for Tylenol to work
