  • @kellyj103 I am worried about GD.  I think partially because I have two friends that had it so I saw what it took for them to manage it (one needed meds and one didn't).  I asked my doctor about it at my first appointment and she was surprised I was already thinking about it.  As much as I don't want to have it (obviously) I think I'll be relieved either way after the testing just to know and be able to move forward with a  plan.  The unknown is anxiety provoking for me.

  • @megstervt yes exactly! The unknown is giving me anxiety. I have a friend who is very healthy and she just found out she has GD. When she asked her dr what she could change or do differently he told her that she was doing everything right and her GD is just related to how her body processes sugar during her pregnancy.

  • @BostonBaby1 What kind of support belt did you get? I think I may need one too but I've read so many mixed reviews I'm not sure which one to try.
  • @joberkiser is pregnancy carpel tunnel a thing?!?!?! My right wrist is about to fall off! I didn't want to attribute it to the pregnancy but I found it weird that all of a sudden it's an issue.

I already had a bracoo but I opted for a BabyBelly Band with the optional groin straps. Shoulder straps can be added later if I need them. It is definitely pricier but made of neoprene and I am desperate.

Yeah it totally is. You can try a pre-fab wrist splint at nighttime to help. If that doesn't do the trick after a few days, you can wear it throught the day too. Nothing fancy, just any brace that will keep your wrist in a neutral position (usually drugstores will have).

It definitely is! The nurse at my office said it has to do with the excess volume of blood/swelling pressing on nerves/tendons/everything in your wrist and hands. I had no idea! Tonight they hurt (wrists and all of my hands) and for the first time you could see some (slight) swelling on my wrist but no where else. I was told it should go away when the babe is born... not that, that was very helpful lol

ETA: Like @mnkenned said, I was told a brace like that, rest and ice/heat when it's being a jerk
  • I guess I will be buying myself a sexy wrist brace! Maybe I can find one that matches with my support belt, lol!

Late to check in again as work has been absolutely killer this week. Thankfully I'm off until Tuesday so I can catch up!

    Status Update: 23 weeks today

What's Next: Appointments, Milestones, etc. My next OB appointment is on 4/13 and I'm going to start going to the prenatal classes at the hospital the week before that (my husband will go if he's lucky enough to be scheduled off work). I also ordered my hypnobabies self-study course this morning.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rants - work has been really stressful and on top of that my husband has been going through a bit of a mid-life crisis regarding his job. We had a really rough night where he told me that he wasn't sure if he was making the right choices for his life. Ultimately, what he meant was that he was afraid he wouldn't be around enough for our son and he wants to be a good dad but it came out more like "I'm not sure if I want this." I spent two days (he works late so often I don't see him during the week until he is off) really upset and sad thinking that he that he wasn't happy about the baby and possibly being married to me. We cleared it up but it was a really rough couple of days (my hormones didn't help).

GTKY- Tell us about your first date with SO (if applicable. If not, tell us something that we don't know): Our first real date was going walking around the French Quarter and the Riverwalk in New Orleans. We ate pizza at one point but generally, we were just talking and enjoying each other's company. It was really nice.
