Hernias and pregnancy

So I've got a hiatal hernia and umbilical hernia from my previous pregnancy (10/23/12) and I'm 7 weeks pregnant and these things feel like giant cramps. Like you know the cramps in your stomach when you try running but you're completely out of shape...yeah those cramps. Its the worst. DH doesn't get it so I thought I would just vent here.

Sorry about the cramps. I'd wait until being completely finished having kids before having either hernia repaired.

Ugh, so sorry you're dealing with this. Did your OB say that the hernias are causing the cramping?

Yeah that's what my gastroenterologist told me to do also.  He's the one who said it was my hernias.  He said as my uterus grows and everything gets pushed more the cramps will feel worse.  It's literally like I've been working out constantly without working out. Ha-ha.

Ugh! I had diastasis recti last time and it hurt so bad. I feel for you girl

If the hernias weren't causing cramping before you were pregnant, it's probably not them causing the cramping now, because this early your uterus hasn't enlarged that much.  They CAN start to hurt as baby gets bigger later on, though, as pressure in your abdomen goes up.
Either way, hopefully the cramping eases up!

Ever since I was first diagnosed with them I've had issues with either reflux or the cramping pain. I'm a short lady who's uncomfortably skinny ha-ha. Did i mention ive also got almost a foot worth of extra intestine so I've always got gas pains too. I've accepted my insides suck so not that big or not I've got issues. Hahaha.
