TTC After a Loss

Spotting, 8 weeks later?

I had my second d&c for retained tissue 1/21. I have since had two periods. Last month, I was spotting and cramping badly (felt like ovulation, negative OPKs, for days prior to finally getting a positive)

This month, I've been feeling like ovulation is coming, ovulation pains, lots of ewcm, and today blood. Very negative OPKs.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Re: Spotting, 8 weeks later?

  • Unfortunately cycles are just wonky sometimes.  This month I had fertile CM for about 11 days before I ovulated (usually it's only like 3-4) and I had ovulation pains for quite a while before I finally turned an OPK positive (and then ovulated 2 days later).

The actual biological reason is that as the follicle/egg develops, it produces estrogen which then causes CM to become more fertile CM.  That's probably why you're also having ovulation pains and cramps (the follicle is developing, and often there are competing follicles on both sides).  When the follicle is "ready" it finally produces enough estrogen to cause the pituitary gland to release LH, and ovulation doesn't actually occur until after your LH surge.  LH is what causes the positive OPKs.

Why you were spotting, I'm not sure.

I can't figure out why my cycle is so wonky. As for spotting, it appears to be a sudden dip in estrogen?
