Abscess on my neck

Hi Ladies!
Anyone ever developed abscesses during pregnancy? I developed one last year in June (before I got pregnant) on my back and it was painful, but drained on its own. I was on antibiotics. This time, I developed one on my neck and it literally just popped up and later that evening, burst and is draining. I don't feel much pain, but I cannot recall if this is dangerous untreated or let it drain the infection out. Yes, I plan to call my doctor when the office opens, but I wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen.

I don't know that I would let it go untreated. At least not in pregnancy. Infection can be even more dangerous during this time so I would think it would be better to get on some antibiotics just in case.

Infection is a huge risk with any open wound. I would certainly not let it go untreated, especially when pregnant. Call your doctor once they open and they can probably give you a safe antibiotic to prevent infection until it heals.

  • I'd definitely get on an antibiotic. I hate abscesses! I hope it heals quickly.
