New Symptoms

Hey ladies,

I know the usual response is 'call your doctor' which I will end up doing this afternoon if not feeling better but I wanted to see if any of you have felt this way before. I woke up this morning my normal, sleepy, achy self. Driving into work just very tired. After about an hour of being here I have become very nauseated (which I barely had any of that this entire pregnancy), I have dull pain in my mid back and some really dull crampy pains in my low pelvic area and what feels like the start of a headache. I checked my BP yesterday and today. Today it was 123/77 which is up from yesterdays 108/63 but still in normal limits. I just have a really blah, crappy feeling and can't put my finger on it. I just don't feel good or my usual self. Do these usually mean anything or is anyone else experiencing this? I am 31 wks and 3 days today.

Re: New Symptoms

  • Honestly, thats how I feel when I get the flu. My doctor did mention there are a lot of strains going around. So you know the answer- call your doctor ;)

I wouldn't necessarily wait to call the doctor until later-- with low cramping, nausea, and back pain, they may want to check you out to rule out preterm labor. (or at least ask you some other diagnostic questions). All of those things can occur on their own and be normal and it may be completely coincidental to be feeling them at once, but it's better to be safe.

ETA if it's flu like @yogahh suggested is a possibility, if it's caught early enough, they can give you an antiviral like Tamiflu. Hope you feel better soon!
  • when this happened to me at 22 weeks I was actually having steady contractions and as soon as my back started hurting and I felt nauseous I knew something wasnt right so I went to my dr and they sent me to l&d and my cervix was actually funneling and so I had to get a shot to stop contractions. I was also using the restroom frequently! I've felt similar the past couple of days but luckily I haven't really had any contractions and my back doesn't hurt and my blood pressure was 110/76 yesterday so I've just been trying to sleep it off. hope this helps!

Tamiflu is a waste of time just FYI. I definitely wouldn't even recommend it to a pregnant woman unless it's like the worst flu ever. But those symptoms don't sound flu like if you ask me and warrant a doctors visit.
  • I've been having mid back pain on my right side and radiates to the top of my uterus resulting in BH. My dr wasn't concerned b/c it only happens a handle of times a day. I've been feeling more blah/ nauseous just as my uterus grows and feels like it's in my throat. But with the headache and slightly higher BP, doesn't hurt to call the dr.
  • I didn't want to AW and start a whole new thread for this but yesterday when I got out of the shower I noticed a dime sized purplish discoloration near my left nipple. I've gotten used to the blue veins covering my breasts since getting pregnant but this area is darker, purple, and doesn't look like the other veins. There's no lump or tenderness around it. I fully plan on showing my doctor at my next appointment but of course I just had an appointment Friday so it's another two weeks until I will see her. Dr. Google says cancer (inflammatory breast cancer, which apparently is a very dangerous kind), but my hope is that this is just a weird hormonal pregnancy side effect. Has anyone had anything like this?
  • Any updated @kp90?

@mrstmoose I stuck it out for the day because I was feeling better and my BP was fine but Friday night I came down with a horrible cold and still not feeling the best. I called the on call OB who told me what I could take for it so I'm trying to rest and get rid of this bug. My next appt is tomorrow at 4 so I'll see what my doctor says and hopefully everything checks out normal and no issues aside from the cold.
  • Sounds awful! I hope you feel better soon!
  • @kp90 I feel similarly some days. Usually for me it's either I've overdone it/slept wrong and it's taking my body awhile to get back to normal, or I'm dehydrated. Once it was combined with a stuffy nose and then I knew I was a little sick.
Ive been putting myself on "voluntary best rest" as I call it- I lay in bed with my feet up for as long as I can (the joys of a first time mom!) and force myself to rest, eat something healthy, and drink some water. So far that's always done the trick. If it didn't then I'd call my midwife.
  • New symptom - I got some floaters in my vision like little brite spots or camera flashes. I know something with vision changes can be related to preE. I was bending over shopping before it happened. So is this something I should call the doc about or can it wait till Monday? I haven't had any abnormal swelling or other changes. I've been getting headaches once and awhile but it's when I'm not drinking enough water. My BP has been normal at my appointments
  • @Lusitano8 floaters can happen pregnant or not pregnant, especially when you're bent over and get back up. I've currently got pre-e and I see floaters at totally random times throughout
the day while im just lying in bed watching tv and will get blacked out spots in my vision as well. To me, the you bending over part explains your floaters circumstance but obviously I'm not a dr. If it concerns you, call, if not then wait until Monday and see if your bp is still in normal range.
  • I experienced the bright light thing as well last week. It was very strange. I'm not a stranger to migraines or auras, and have had floaters in my eye for 4 years but this was different. I finally just laid down and went to sleep and it went away after a few hours. I was concerned at first but since they went away, I just chalked it up to pregnancy. If you have it for a long time or its affecting anything, call your dr.

  • @kp90  I am 35w4d and this is my second baby. I had the same exact feelings and complaints the other day. I already had a weekly visit scheduled so I was at doctors. They checked BP and urine and also did a cervical check to make sure nothing was happening. Went away after a day but I have been nauseous here and there the last couple days. Just stay hydrated rest and listen to your body. They think it could have been viral. Either way it went away and I'm feeling *fine* now (other than normal end of pregnancy yuckiness)
  • Oh boy. In my case it's oh girl though. We are getting so close aren't we??
I've felt BH and told my doctor. She has yet to check my cervix. I'm almost at 35 weeks. Sometimes the BH gets so strong that I get hot and have to poop.  :|

My new symptom is joint pain in my wrists and fingers. I can't open anything and have resorted to stabbing holes into every bottle.  :)
