Pain under right breast..not baby moving

hello, just wondering if anyone has experienced this..I am 23 weeks and for the last month I have been having some pain under my right breast. Now it starts off as my actual skin burning, than inside starts to burn than it starts to ache , after a few minutes it aches so bad. It mostly happens at night time when I'm laying on my back or my right side and the only way to relieve it is if I lay on my left side and cross my right arm over to the left . When this happens during the day the only way to relieve it is if I put 2 fingers directly on the spot and push down, than it goes away but only while pressing. This is the weirdest thing. Sometimes the pain radiates to my back but not all the time and sometimes that area with have a little itch..nothing major. I literally can draw a circle around the spot it hurts, it's the same exact spot every day. Like I said it started about 4 -5weeks ago but lately it's been every single day/night..just wondering if anyone had this happen and it turn out to be nothing bad related..to me it doesn't feel like muscle it feels like organ.

Re: Pain under right breast..not baby moving

  • You should get your gall bladder looked at, sounds really similar to my issues and I found out yesterday I need to have mine removed after I have the baby.
  • Loading the player...
  • Not yet..it started to get more frequent after my last dr appt..I go next week so I will talk to him than. My mom said she thinks it's my gallbladder since that does run in my family but she said the pain is usually in the middle and all but everyone is different. I'm just hoping it doesn't have anything to do with my liver.
  • Uggg so sorry you have to deal with that..did the dr do an ultrasound to diagnose? Atleast your prize is your baby lol
  • Yes you right I should start keeping a journal. It's the weirdest pain I have ever experienced. Food doesn't make it worse that's why I don't think it's my gallbladder. I really have no idea it could be muscle related but I just don't think so but I'm not a dr. I see him next week. The burning on the skin and how I can put pressure to make it stop is what is weird to me. But like you said it could just be another weird ass preg symptom.

Def keep track for the next week but if you end up with a fever either call your nurses line pronto or head to an urgent care...

it's probably just weirdo pregnancy stuff but there's so many organs in your abdomen and they're all getting squished around so if people normally experience pain in a certain area it may be in a slightly different area since baby is taking up a lot of room. Pain in your abdomen could be pancreatitis or appendicitis and those are things you don't wanna mess with...

Edited to add: Also, if you start vomiting call your doc stat

  • I have something similar going on. It might be a totally different situation though so you should still talk to your OB about it. But I've had more of what I would call a discomfort at the bottom of my ribcage on my right side for a couple weeks now. It sort of feels like my ribs are digging into my insides if that makes sense. Sometimes it feels like a burning sensation. If I bend backwards and poke my tummy out it goes away. I mentioned this to my MFM doctor just yesterday and he felt around and didn't seem concerned.

  • I have the rib pain directly under breast, and it's skin to bone deep only, definitely not under my ribcage at all. My midwife thinks that uterus/baby is hitting a nerve low down in abdomen and the nerve is referring the pain elsewhere (this really weird spot). My mom apparently had it too. Mine is worst when sitting and I just have to note my right arm around, sometimes above my head, to help. It sounds like the same thing to me, mine isn't food related at all either. Started about 19 weeks and got more frequent every week. At almost 24 weeks I've resigned myself that it's near constant unless I lay correctly. And it's a sharp pain. At first I thought I had torn a muscle or even bruised bone dealing with my horse. Good luck! At least I was glad to hear it's not dangerous.

  • Wow thank you for this..I feel a lot better bc it sounds exactly the same. I think that if it was something like gallbladder or liver It wouldn't go away when I move. Just like you if I change my position it goes away. The pain isn't a screaming pain it's just an annoying ache . But there has been a few times it has hurt worse but not to the point where I'm crying lol.. and same here it started around 19 weeks but over the last few it's every day. I'm definitely going to ask my dr and see what he says bc of course I'm going to worth worry!! My gf who is 18 weeks just went to the ER and was admitted bc she had constant itching all over and they said its her liver and that's what I been afraid of bc it's in the exact spot my liver is. I have had pancreatitis a few years ago and this is definitely not that type of pain!! That pain was unbearable omg!!! Anyways wondering if this has anything to do with ab separation..I was at my ultrasound a few wk ago and suddenly I noticed my belly looking sooooo weird when I was in a plank position and the tech said looks like your abdominal muscles separated, so I asked dr and he said that it's somewhat common in pregnancy that it happens when there is too much pressure from your uterus pushing on the muscles and they split!! Omgggg!! The way you know if it happens too you is lay on your back with feet flat and lift only your head and look at your belly and if it has a triangle shape with the middle of your stomach puffed of than you have it..if not than be careful getting up do not put too much stress on the muscles. And do not do crunches ..if you get it during preg and it doesn't go away after you may need sugery or try certain exercises..there is a medical name for it! Anyway maybe my muscle separated and pitched a nerve! Ugggg idk too much lol
  • That sounds like a horrible sensation, and definitely ask your doc about it. When I was pregnant with DD, I would get a burning/pulling sensation right below my breasts, kind of in between them. But that felt almost like a muscle (I know you said yours doesn't). It would only happen occasionally ,but the only thing that would make me feel better is to put an ice pack on the area. Hope you feel better and can figure out what is going on!
  • Lurking from June '16.... Hi guys :)

So I've had the same pains. Starts with the skin then goes ONLY bone deep. It almost feels like the muscles that are SUPPOSED to be there are starting to pull away, but I forgot to ask my dr at my appointment yesterday. Oops. And I'm going to second what @MDmomma1217 said with the ice pack. Hope yours isn't your gall bladder!!

  • @Vgallo831 I'm glad it's nothing dangerous (just painful and annoying). :)

I have the same thing ! Burning sensation / ache under my right boob by my rib cage. My skin feels hot and tender to the touch. Wrapping my ribs tight with an ace bandage helps or arching my back and stretching my arms up. all super normal things to do sitting at your desk In a call center
  • @Vgallo831 sorry you have a pinched nerve those are no fun! But so glad it's nothing too serious ! Hope it eases up for you soon!
