May 2016 Moms

Before Delivery List:

I've been mentally making my list of errands/chores to do before this baby comes...and I thought, I would love to see what you all have to do as well!!
I love to check things off of my lists - as you can see, some are important things and some are trivial!  and I've got 8weeks to go before my RC-S.

To-Do List:
-trade in the accord for an odessey. install car seats.  (this is on DH's list. haha)
-get glasses fixed or get new glasses.
-prepare pack N play or bassinet
-paint toenails
-get eyebrows done
-write Sprinkle Thank You notes
-order & pick up Breast pump

Re: Before Delivery List:

  • Oh wow! You're so much more on top of things than I am! But thanks for making me think about this. Right now, my list is:

    - Install car seat base
    - wash baby clothes and sheets for crib
    - get other nursery items so all her things are not piled in her crib
    - Go get waxed/get toenails done
    - Go see a movie, any movie.

... not much of a list! I will have to sit down and figure out what needs to be done in the next 6 or so weeks! :)

Not sure if you have ever heard of ZenniOptical.com but I swear by them! I've been wearing glasses for more than 20 years, with a long time on contacts only, but discovered this site and it has changed my world. I have probably 15 pairs of glasses, some being more comfortable than others, but at about $10 a pair including prescription lenses it's totally worth it! Sorry for the PSA, but I am obsessed with Zenni.
  • I'm also pretty obsessive about my to-do lists (for baby, life, work, anything!):

    - Thank You notes from showers
    - Put away all clothes/blankets/towels that I've washed
    - Pack hospital bag
    - Install car seat bases
    - Get necessary post-natal gear
    - Buy remaining stock-pile items:  razors for DH, light bulbs, bottled water, freezer meal ingredients
    - Prepare freezer meals
    - Buy remaining baby items with registry discount (pacifiers, more diapers)
    - Clean out all closets and drawers in the house and do quarterly donation
    - Set up pack n play
    - Order breast pump
    - Decide on newborn photographer and set it up
    - Discuss guardianship with DH
    - Set up a will
    - Research college funds and decide on budget for that
    - Decide on pediatrician
    - Infant CPR and breastfeeding classes
    - Do a deep clean of house in early May (EDD May 22)
    - Finalize all work documentation for my absence
    - Decide on wall decor for nursery and hang it
    - Install baby monitor
    - Maybe a wax as things get closer?  And a final pedicure?
    - Take vacation with DH and have as many date nights as possible!

  • This is great, I totally had spaced on a few of these things (like pre-registering at the hospital!) Waiting until after the shower to do any additional shopping but aside from that:

-get our cleaning service to do a deep clean (cupboards, oven, fridge)

  • Ok I'm either way too organised or forgetting a lot of stuff. My list is kinda short

-buy stuff that we didn't get at baby shower
-if I can be bothered, cook and freeze some meals

i really don't have much left to do other than have this baby...

i guess ive been getting more stuff done that I realised. I try to accomplish small tasks daily rather than leaving it to build up. Every time I've bought something eg stroller, I've set it up straight away. I did my thank you cards the day after the shower. Washed everything last weekend. Hubby is finishing nursery stuff this weekend. Hope I'm not forgetting stuff!

I am sure there are a million things I will add to this as the time comes closer though!

  • OMG this thread stressed me out, lol.  I am usually SO on top of things, but for some reason have had a "Meh" attitude about everything with this pregnancy and put things off.  We have bought nothing, have done no classes, made no lists...  It would be easier for me to make a short list of the things we HAVE done: Started the mural in the nursery (will hopefully finish Monday), registered for Baby Shower, scheduled the hospital tour, got our TDAPs.  Still waiting to buy any big things until we have had the baby shower and also have more money set aside.  Still have SO much to do around the house.
  • We are temporarily moving out so I've actually been a maniac this week doing baby stuff. My to do list is more like life stuff to handle than baby stuff:

    - finish packing/move out
    - renovate two bathrooms
    - pay preschool deposit (why are deposits and property taxes due on the same day?!)
    - tell current school we won't be returning next year
    - make appointments for cut/color, nails and wax for week before due date
    - get the dog groomed
    - book deep cleaning tentatively for week before due date
    - hopefully move back in before due date
  • At least this is a list I won't lose...

    -empty car (trunk)
    -wash & shampoo entire car
    -order car seat
    -put crib together
    -buy mommy hospital bag essentials
    -buy baby bag essentials
    -wash mommy and baby essentials
-pack the bags + daddy bag
    -register at the hospital
-deep clean carpet in the freshly painted bedroom and living room
-doll the crib up with a skirt, mattress, sheet, pad, etc.
    -drop off dry cleaning
    -register for baby fair
    -write resignation letter

I'm starting to get a bit overwhelmed

    This is wonderful to read!
I love lists, just made one 3 pages long and sign onto here and see things I can add to my list.
Love getting things done because with a toddler and newborn I will have 0 time in May for a long time to come.

  • Ok I'm either way too organised or forgetting a lot of stuff. My list is kinda short

I am so with you there. I've done research, gathered recipes, but now am like "Yeaaa... I might just buy some of the pre-made freezer meals because it just seems easier.
  • - Install car seat
    - Set up pack & play
    - My shower hasn't happened yet, but I'll need to buy things not gifted + write thank-yous
    - Some sort of meal prep. Probably in the form of Stouffer's frozen things in my freezer. Ha.
    - Put together hospital bag
    - Hiring people to deep clean my house & then come do regular cleanings every 2 weeks!
    - Wash all the baby clothes/towels/etc. and finish putting it all away

Just for me/if I have time and money:
    - Get my hair highlighted
    - Ged a pedicure

Still...if she came RIGHT NOW, we'd be fine. :) so I'm not too stressed.
