Spotting and cramping after FET

mskeenanmskeenan member
edited March 2016 in Pregnant after IF
has anyone experienced this and still gotten a BFP ? I'm 9 days post transfer and my beta is scheduled for Tuesday . A few days ago I started cramping and woke up today to spotting . I don't usually spot before AF and the spotting is a brown color (not red like AF) . I apologize for the tmi . I'm just looking for any type of hope that I could still be pregnant .

I am so heartbroken thinking my transfer failed . I don't know if I'll be able to do another transfer as this was already my last resort .

Re: Spotting and cramping after FET

  • I didn't have spotting the month I got my BFP, but spotting after a BFP is even a common occurrence. Don't count yourself out yet! Unfortunately, it could mean either thing for you at this point. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

  • I also had no spotting until later on when they found a sch.
I did have cramping and was convinced I'd get af. I couldn't make it to the beta. I tested days before.

  • Thank you both for responding @suchaglencoco and @riveridgional ! I called my nurse today and she basically said its impossible to read into anything . She said the bleeding could be from from cervix being irritated from the crinone I'm on . I want to test so bad but kind of don't want to because I want to know there's a possibility . I'm so torn !!

  • You'll know very soon @mskeenan ! I'll have my FX for you! This is your first FET, right? Do you guys have any other snowflakes in case this one didn't work?
  • @kidshrink yes this is my first transfer . We skipped the fresh transfer bc I needed a break . We transferred two embryos (good quality ) and we have eight more frozen . I'm trying to be optimistic for this cycle . If it doesn't work out I am blessed that I have more frozen embryos . I'm just tired of this all and really want this to be it !! Thank you for the well wishes !!!

  • Oh I hear you...there comes a point where you just feel like you can't handle more disappointment. Hopefully, you'll have your BFP real soon and it won't come to having to take a break, but the good news is that you definitely have a few tries in bank. Let us know what happens tomorrow!
  • All the best @mskeenan Keeping my fingers crossed for u.
  • @mskeenan If I remember correctly from my IF board lurking, your beta is tomorrow. If you haven't already, I recommend yoy make some plans for tonight that will force your brain away from it, like a movie and maybe dinner with a friend or two. One more sleep! Really hope you'll be joining us on here in the next few days!!

  • All positive thoughts and prayers for you @mskeenan!!!!! I've got everything crossed hoping this is your bfp! Good luck and keep us posted please!
  • I give lots of credit to those of you who didn't test early!  I'm way too impatient and always wanted to semi brace myself for the news.

Good luck tomorrow!  Fingers crossed for you.

  • @riveridgional thank you for the recommendation ! I actually went to a bachelor finale watching party with some of my best friends . It was nice to watch something silly to get my mind off of things . I fell asleep fine but woke up early thinking about how nervous I am ! I feel sick to my stomach !
    @binnie505 @suchaglencocoand @laur2444 thank you ! I'll keep you guys posted !

Even through I feel so sick with nerves I feel like this could really be it for me . My spotting has stopped and my cramping has mostly subsided , too . I don't think AF is coming .

Luckily I have a crazy day at work and will be so busy ! Hopefully I'm able to answer the nurses call .

  • That's amazing @mskeenan! Yay!!!! I'm going to say that's likely twins too! So happy for you!
  • @mskeenan and @KidShrink one beta number cannot tell you if it is multiples or not (unless, like someone I follow on IG your first beta at 9dp5dt is 22,000 because your doc transferred 4 embryos). You'll only know once you go in for an ultrasound.

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!

  • Such amazing news! Congrats! It's so exciting and nerve wracking from now on.

I agree to not jump to the twins conclusion, our first beta was only 242 but there were two healthy babies growing.
  • I was so excited for you that I accidentally posted on the IVF success board. Yaaaaaayy!!! Keep us updated on Thursday and don't freak out if you don't have any symptoms. Besides cramping (will feel like AF), I didn't have any symptoms until about 7ish weeks.

Also, regarding multiples, my first Beta was 1,075 at 16dpo, and I only have one. So levels really could mean anything!

  • @mskeenan, how are you doing?
  • Thanks for asking @suchaglencoco . I was doing well . My second beta last week came over a little over 1300. But today I'm cramping and spotting and have a lot of back pain . The cramping and spotting from last week had stopped .  I'm kind of freaking out . My doctor said that I can come to his office tomorrow if it doesn't let up . He said I should probably wait until my scheduled ultrasound on Thursday , though . I am so anxious .

@suchaglencoco woops I meant my appointment is already scheduled for Wednesday . I'm not sure if I should go in tomorrow or not . I hope I can sleep tonight . I just spent the last hour crying on the couch . DH is working late so I'm feeling really alone . He's usually good at talking me out of being super negative . I'm gonna take it easy the rest of the evening and watch Netflix and drink some pregnancy tea . I wish I could eat but my appetite is gone .

I did read a ton of stories of women having this issue and going on to have healthy pregnancies and hopefully I'm one of them . My doc really didn't sound too concerned bc my betas were so good . Are two betas really enough for reassurance that things will probably be ok ?

  • Waiting is the worst, I am too impatient for that. I knew going in would never change my outcome, but at least I'd know what was happening. I find it odd your doctor didn't want to see you. Mine always had me come in at their next available time to check everything out during a bleed.
To answer your question, we had 3 good betas and I was still convinced we were losing the pregnancy during my bleeding episodes.  However, we had previously had 3 good betas followed by finding 2 heartbeats one day and then a few days later, having no heartbeats after our first transfer.
We were never comfortable with our last pregnancy, we were constantly worried. Up until the moment they pulled out our babies I was worried they wouldn't be ok.

Try to keep your head up, watch a funny tv show marathon and attempt to sleep. Feel free to message me if you need to vent.
  • @mskeenan, hope you're doing well.

Thank you @suchaglencoco . I'm waiting to get released from the ER . I started having very bad cramps today and the bleeding became so heavy it was almost more than a period . Had an ultrasound a little bit ago and they saw my little baby and saw its heart beat . They also saw a SCH . I'm relieved to have an explanation for all the blood . It's absolutely terrifying to see so much . But it sounds like everything is looking ok
