Tmi.. Discharge

Do any of you ladies have an increase in discharge, particularly the watery stuff?

I called my doc this afternoon because I got nervous it was amniotic fluid or something (I'm paranoid). They had me put on a pad and call them in an hour. There was nothing there in that time so they said to just monitor.

So, is this normal?? I'm a first time mom so it's all new to me!

Re: Tmi.. Discharge

  • Yes it's normal! I noticed it too and my friend who just had a little girl told me sometimes she had to wear a pantyliner. I'm a ftm at 15w4d and I've definitely seen an increase. I'm getting a Brazilian wax tomorrow and I'm definitely embarrassed about it. Haha at least it's a good friend and mom who is doing it.

  • Huge increase in discharge is actually healthy, it increases in pregnancy to keep out infection

  • Totally normal but can be kinda gross lol. Invest in pantyliners.

Totally normal. Also normal: discharge that looks like clear boogers (unless strongly colored, pink/reddish or with blood). Those boogery ones tend to show up after sex, but can be any time. Random and gross, but true.

Edited to clarify that I was referring to the boogery discharge overall is common after sex, not the bloody kind. ;)
  • Thank you so much ladies!! That eases my mind!

@Igem4 I know, I'm so paranoid about everything and any weird little thing freaks me out. I worry about this baby so much!
  •  I wear a panty liner almost every day now and I'm 22 weeks. Last Saturday I was biking and had a gush. I wasn't expecting it but it's been happening when I workout or bike lately.
  • Right around 20 weeks it started getting bad. Some days are enough o need a panty liner. Fun stuff! But completely normal :)
  • Very normal. With DS, it didn't start until about 20 weeks. This time, it started immediately. Expect to wear panty liners until the end of your pregnancy. It gets gross.

  • Yup, it was worse with DD, but totally normal.  I had to wear panty liners with DD, but we're not there yet this time.

  • for me it is less of the discharge causing a need for panty liners/pads and more of the incontinence when I sneeze or cough too hard/much (which I have been doing a lot with these allergies!). How heavy has the discharge been for you ladies (current pregnancy or prior)?
  • Yep. Totally normal. And it doesn't go away!!! DS is 11 months old and I've had it since I was pregnant with him. It increased much more during this pregnancy. Panty liners for life.
