Birthmarks

I was curious to see how many other babies have them. DS only had a mole at the top of his rear. DD has a stork bite over the back of her neck and one eyelid (it has faded from her nose).

Because of some of it being on her face I used to feel guilty. I know there's a good chance of it fading and going away but now I actually don't want it to. It's a part of her and as my love for her has grown as I've watched her becoming a little person, I can't imagine her without it.

Re: Birthmarks

  • DD has one snack dab the middle of her forehead. As she gets older it's hard to notice. She also has some the back of her neck.
  • Loading the player...
  • My first had a faint one on her face and a dark one on her back. As she grew they stretched and faded away completely.
  • I haven't seen one on DD, but I still have one on my wrist!

  • Henry has one on his neck similar to the mark on his forehead but bigger.
Also, I just learned it's near impossible to take a picture this way of him so it's super fuzzy.
  • Ewan has one on the top/side of his left butt cheek. It's gotten darker and larger as he has grown. I think they call them hemangiomas or strawberries. It's should go away after time I believe. I have a birthmark on almost the same exact spot but on my right cheek and I guess my dad has one too but they aren't this red
  • Dakota have one on the back of the head but you can't see it hardly because of her hair and then the hemangioma on her face.
  • Lucas has one on the back of his neck, red in color, should be covered by his hair as he gets older. Not sure if it's a stork bite? I've never heard that term til now so I looked it up & it seems similar to what he has.

@esscapelle I hadn't heard of a storkbite either until a nurse mentioned it in the hospital with DD. I keep trying g to get a picture of hers on the back of her neck but like @Gingermom15 said it's a difficult place to get a picture of, especially with hair.

ETA the OB indicated DD'she might have something to do with being sunny side up.
  • My LO has four little ones on her arm :) I said she's earning her spots lol. I have a big one on my left leg.
  • DD doesn't have any but my almost 3yo DS had one on his eyelid like OP and on the back of his head. The one on his eyelid went away but he still has it on the back of his head. Every time he gets his haircut he freaks out the barber because they think they cut him!

    That's kind of hilarious!

DS2 doesn't have any birth marks that I've noticed either, but my almost 3yo has one on his knee...just a little smudge that's a bit darker than the surrounding skin. He calls it his cutie mark. Can you tell he has older sisters? ;)

  • My pedi told us stork bites  (or angels kisses when on the forehead) are genetic, so someone in the family usually has one. When on the back of the neck they usually dont ever fade away, but ones on the face usually do. My DD has a stork bite, but me nor my DH have one. After asking family members, my Dad has one! So do two out of three of his sisters, and his dad had one too. Pretty neat :-)
  • Q has a strawberry on his forearm. My sister had one on her back til she was about 7 when it finally faded away.
  • My DD has a stork bite on the back of her neck, and similar red marks on her eye lids, though those have faded. My 5yo had it on her forehead and a spot on her nose. They have faded, but the one on her forehead comes back if she gets mad.

As far as moles go, none that I have seen on my DD yet, but on my older daughter, she got them as she grew.
