Chipotle

hi ladies!

so up in till last October I had chipotle Atleast 2/3 times a week and could have it everyday if I could. Obviously I stopped when I heard about the E. coli outbreak. Till this day I haven't had it but have been craving it so bad! Am I over reacting? Are any of you eating it and comfortable with it ? I'm just still worried that's all..

Re: Chipotle

  • I've never eaten at Chipotle bc there's never been one close to me. I will tell you though that I've switched to Dunkin Donuts for coffee and/or breakfast sandwiches due to Starbucks problems the last few months. I'm one of those people that hears the word lice and starts itching so I couldn't bring myself to eat at Chipotle (or Starbucks) now.

  • There's a new Chipotle issue in the news around Boston, so it sounds like the issue may not be fully resolved yet. Personally, I got extremely sick from Chipotle a few years ago. While I still have it on occasion, I have definitely backed off while pregnant.

  • I've been leery of it ever since the E-coli outbreak, and have been going to other places for my burrito fix (or begging my mom to make them!). DH, on the other hand, has had Chipotle several times since the news broke.

  • It's probably fine. But I wouldn't eat there.  I'm mexican and always make burritos at home. So I never went there anyways, but when this came out and how long it took to fix and it KEEPS HAPPENING if I had been a fan before, I would've stopped going too! No way will you catch me there. Baby in the belly no reason to risk it as far as I see.
  • How about a Moes or a Qdoba?  Either of those near  you?  They have similar type stuff

DH and toddler ate there yesterday.  I declined.
It is probably safe.  Probably doesn't work for me though right now.
I had it in the 1st trimester (early in Sept and Oct) but when they had the issues I stopped.

  • There's one right across from work. DH eats there but I still won't. I'm sure it's fine now, but this particular chipotle I've never really been a fan of anyway bc they would always mess up my orders and I would rather just not take the chance.
  • I have eaten the heck out of it even during the E.coli outbreak.  I was fine.  :)

Wait! What's happening with Starbucks? *hops over to Google to check it out*

ETA found it, so glad I'm not in one of those states, but I will definitely stay away from their food for a while!

before the one this week they had an e coli breakout that was nationwide. Nope. No thank you Starbucks. I think it was just their food but I just can't bring myself to get their coffee anymore either.

  • I had it a couple times at the beginning also. I do like it and they sent us some great coupons for free food but...like the others I can't quite bring myself to do it. I don't want to think about e.coli while enjoying some delicious guac.
  • I don't think I'd risk it. I've only ever had it once before, at a work party, and don't think I'll ever have it again. It was okay, but it's simple stuff you can do at home for cheaper and way less calories.

  • I'm still eating it. The e coli outbreak was months ago, and with all the media attention, I'm sure they're being extra careful these days.  Now I'm craving Chipotle... :/
  • I'll never touch it again. Another employee got sick with norovirus this week fti

  • I would be eating there because, as fast food goes, it's actually pretty decent in terms of ingredients. But the thought of it exhausts me.

We have one Chipolte for the entire city and a line up stretching down the street. Plus I always feel mildy embarrassed of my order (I order a bunch of sides of meat and guac and salsa) and it often gets screwed up (which then makes me more embarrassed for being so high maintenance). I also then take it home and make saffron cauliflower rice to go with it. It's a lot of work. Add E. coli to that and I just can bring myself to go get it. It's easier to just make a steak at home.
  • I've been skipping it but my dh has still been eating it!

  • It was months ago and not at every Chipotle. I'm not a huge fan (I like being able to get a burrito smaller than my face....) but I have no qualms about eating there. I did a few weeks ago.

  • Honestly, we probably should be avoiding it for another reason: The sodium in chipotle food is insane. Talk about swollen ankles!!

  • I'm avoiding it but I never loved Chipotle in the first place. Sbux I'm still eating (just not the sandwich in question and I'm not in one of those states). I'd do a Chipotle alternative if I did crave it, though, they've had a lot of issues.
  • I just had Chipotle over the weekend.

    Swollen ankles for days!
  • Nope, no thank you.
  • Going there today. I'm kinda into the theory that the Chipotle outbreaks were sabatouge. I mean they had no problems for years then all the sudden lots of problems. Anyway, I don't go out to eat ever, but I'm meeting hubby for lunch to share our free burrito.

I eat there occasionally. Maybe once a month. I used to eat it at least 1x a week, usually more. We stopped when the outbreak happened but I started again sometime in maybe Dec/Jan? We'be been fine, but we mix it up with Moe's now.
  • Yea... my friend ate there last week and got real bad food poisoning. So I don't think I would risk it.
  • DH and I have had chipotle a few times since the "dramz", and we are both fine. it was actually pretty delicious.
  • I am not eating there. I actually went to a shower where they catered Chipotle and I made sure to eat before. I wasn't in love with it before all the issues though... Pancheros for the win!

OMG I LOVE PANCHEROS! I wish we had it here.
  • Personally, I prefer Freebirds over Chipotle. Used to go there all the time...if I pass this 3hr glucose test I think I shall go there to celebrate.

  • As much as I really want some chips and salsa from Chipotle, I'm skipping it. Sadly the Moe's by us closed, it's not that much further to the next one, but it's enough that I just deal.
  • I switched over to Moe's. Especially since I discovered their queso (which I enjoy even though it grosses me out). While I'm not afraid of Chipotle per se I have no real love for it either so other Tex mex places work just fine.
  • I just had lunch there, and have had several times while pregnant. Love it.

  • Avoiding it.  Which is too bad because I loved their guacamole during the 1st tri.
  • We have Moe's, Chipotle, and Pancheros. No Qdobas though...
