Allergies

LO had been congested for about 2 months now. I think it started will a mild cold and then dry air from the heat contributed to it. We stayed using a humidifier and end up with mold! Around this time was LOs 4 month checkup. The doctor found that he had an ear infection most likely due to the congestion and told us to stop using the humidifier since it wasn't working anyway. We treated the ear infection and started using an air purifier 24/7. LO is still congested so the doctor suggested the allergy medicine, singulair. I'm not comfortable giving allergy medicines due to the unpleasant side effects. LO doesn't seem like he feels bad and is always smiling and happy. Anyone have any suggestions for natural allergy relief or experience using allergy meds?

Try using a saline solution directly into the nose or put some saline into a nebulizer and use it as you normally would.

Also, not sure if your can check for allergies at that young of an age, but if so, I would have him/her tested before just giving them medicine.

@sistio I've tried saline with a nose frida but nothing ever comes out. We've also tried sitting in the bathroom with steam from the shower and going to a chiropractor with no luck. The congestion never comes out.
The doctor said on a scale of 1 to 10 that he's only a 1 so he's not too worried about it. He says noisy breathing is better than no breathing. I asked him about allergy testing and he said at this age it would be the same as testing me.
