I woke up suddenly one evening and the room was spinning I couldn't control my eyes to focus on anything, I was vomiting none stop (I haven't vomited once during my pregnancy thus far, I'm 19 weeks)
I went to the ER and doctor thinks its vertigo, its been a week now and I'm still not 100%. The vomiting has stopped and I'm able to focus on things right in front of me but that's it. The room still feels like its spinning around me
Has anyone else had this, and is there something I can do to make it better?
Re: Any one else ever suffered from Vertigo ?
I am sorry you are going through this it is terrible and annoying because you can't control it. FYI. I still to this day cannot go on spinning rides. It effects me too much so I just avoid them. ( not that you are going on them now, but just for future reference).
I hated the meclizine too. My doctor recommended head tilting exercises - specifically he said he could send me to PT but there are a lot of really good videos on YouTube that demonstrate the technique just as well. I was on the tail end of it when I got that advice so I didn't try it but maybe it's worth a shot?
Hang in there and try to take it easy while it clears up!
Hopefully it's fluid in you ears, that can cause it and is a quicker fix...take decongestants, that can help if it is related to fluid build up. You can also try garlic oil in your ears or an "onion ear muff" (google it) to help break up fluids and drain your ears.
Also... and this will sound crazy, but was the response from a neurologist, do things which trigger the vertigo in a controlled environment. This is the principle on which the exercises work. My husband and I took ballroom dancing and that helped a lot. My neurologist suggested bouncing a tennis ball off a racket, and picking it up when it falls.
I used meclizine (generic antivert) it was one of the best things to help me.
I I still get attacks of vertigo if I'm tired, stressed or accidentally have something with caffeine. It's scary but can be manageable. I see a neurologist and have had MRI to rule out brak rumors.
