We took DD downtown to our favorite book store this weekend and visited the kid section. We've talked many times about how DD will not be spoiled or even have very many toys, but we will always be happy to buy books for her. While there, DH noticed a snowy owl puppet and showed it to DD while making a hooting noise. She loved it and reacted in a way I'd never seen before. Extra huge eyes, smile, etc. We checked the price and decided it was way too much for a puppet.
DH proceeded to take a picture of the baby reacting to the owl and continued to talk about how much fun DD was having. He also threw in a few times what a "good" baby she is and how he didn't need any new books.
So yeah, he got the owl for her. I didn't mind. It was adorable and he's still somewhat insecure as a dad. But all I could think was "Here we go..."
What are some stories of your SOs or family members being wrapped around your LOs' little fingers?
Re: Wrapped around their fingers
There's rarely a store trip where one or both kids don't get something. Thursday hubby was off work so we went to a couple stores. We made it DS's day with mommy. Hubby stayed in the car with DD and I took DS in the stores. We went in buy buy baby and got a tranquil turtle to try to replace his current soother (the battery cthulu) and ended up with snacks and a Thomas the Train book. He absolutely loves Thomas right now and adores this book, his first "big boy" book that isn't a boars one and the only one he doesn't abuse.
Also after swearing I wouldn't crochet anything else because of not having time...DD has completely latched on to a blanket I crocheted for her while pregnant so I bought yarn and started another one following the same pattern (scaled down) for a spare. This is just this week.
ETA I'm pretty sure I fall in move with hubby just a little more each time I watch him cave to the little ones. Seeing this big tough man just melt with love over our kids. Sexiest damn thing ever.
I just dont want her to grow up thinking that she can get fancy things all the time, my husbands niece is like that. Spoiled and very stuck up. She's also a pageant girl. My SIL told me when I was pregnant that she was going to make DD into her next pageant girl and I just laughed and didn't say anything. But no. Thank you.
