Jogging Stroller Question

So, this is potentially a silly question- and I did use the search feature, but found varying results, so I just want to see if any of you have any experience/advice. I have the Graco Click Connect travel system with the jogger. Is there any reason I can't take DS (who is 15 weeks) jogging if he is strapped into his car seat? I would be jogging (at a much slower pace than usual, I'm sure) on a paved path that is not near a street. I've seen conflicting advice, and most if it is about using a jogging stroller without the car seat, which is obviously not a good idea until he's much older. Have any of you used a jogging stroller with a car seat yet, or can you think of a reason that this would be a bad idea?

Re: Jogging Stroller Question

  • I think this is what they are built for, no? I think as long as your baby has decent head control you should be ok. Maybe get a better head support pillow so he doesn't bounce around.

As long as LO is in the car seat and it's not too bumpie I don't see why not.
  • Lurking from Dec. I purchased the Graco jogging stroller and have been using it with my click connect car seat for about a month now. DD is 11 weeks. I tested it and her head did bobble around a bit more than when driving in the car so I fold up a receiving blanket and wedge it between her head and the support and her head does not bobble at all anymore. I haven't jogged with it yet, waiting till she's a bit older but I do brisk walks. DD loves going out and usually falls asleep after a while.
  • Ds is 15 weeks and I use it. I jog pretty slowly ;) so I don't see a problem with it! Our paths are paved so he's not bumping around a lot.
  • LO is 15 weeks and I have the Graco Relay jogger. I haven't taken it jogging yet but I have been on walks. I think the main concern is head control. If your LO is holding his head up unassisted then you could take him jogging in the car seat.
  • I actually asked our doctor about this at our last appointment because I also found conflicting information online and I didn't understand why there would be a problem if she was strapped in her car seat. Doctor agreed and said if i want to go jogging, just keep her in her car seat and don't go off-road, wait until baby has better head control before putting her straight in the stroller, she said if I'm on a paved trail it's no more bumpy than being in the back of a car. As always, ask your doc if you're worried, but that's what mine told me.
  • Thanks for your input! I figured it should be fine, since it's similar to the car, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything :) I finally found a carrier that he loves (k'taan!), so we ended up using that and just going for a long walk yesterday- but a stroller jog is definitely in our near future!

  • Just throwing in the advice I was given by physical therapist was to wait until baby was minimum 6 months old to start jogging with the jogging stroller and she said that she would really like parents to wait until a year old. I've read a lot of conflicting views on the topic though so I think you have to just do what you are most comfortable with.
