"Feeling" Pregnant

So I'll be 10 weeks on Tuesday and the symptoms started coming and going now. I went from throwing up multiple times a day to have a sickness free weekend. On some aspects, it makes me nervous but then again, I can sleep all weekend no problem. I know symptoms come and go but does anyone not "feel" pregnant one day and then the next it hits you like a ton of bricks? ... Growing a baby is a lot of work! LOL ... Still wouldn't trade any sickness for the world though!

Re: "Feeling" Pregnant

  • This is me on a day to day basis. My paranoia is due to previous MC. I try to enjoy my symptom free days, but still get concerned when I don't feel pregnant. Hang in there girl.

Yes, my symptoms are worse at times and better at others. It seems like most of the time my breasts hurt more at night. My "nausea" (nothing compared to last pregnancy) is worse in the morning and at night...better in the middle of the day. Some days I can feel stretching down low and "feel" like something is going on down there. Other days not so much. Some days I am cranky, others not. I always pee more than usual. My bowels are slower than normal (TMI). I'm almost always tired. But, yes, I'm right there with you lovely ladies. There are times I question whether or not this pregnancy is even real. 4 tests say yes. But I am just waiting for my scan to really believe.

  • I didn't think I was alone! It's just so weird! With all the changes, I question everything that happens. I also switched back to my old OB who will actually answer questions unlike the new one I wanted to try.
And... After I posted this, I'm like oh crap! The title sounds like an Am I Pregnant post lol

  • Definitely not alone. Last Monday I started worrying that I didn't feel symptoms and then realized I had been too tired and sick to move off the sofa for the whole weekend. It still didn't ease my worries until the next time I was throwing up. I've never been so happy to feel like shit, but I'd be cool with the "normal" loss of MS in the near future. I'm 10 weeks now and hear some symptoms should start fading...
  • Definitely can't wait to leave morning sickness behind! That's for sure! But I guess it is a reassuring thing until my belly stars getting bigger.

  • You guys are all so strong with this MS thing. I haven't thrown up, just overwhelming nausea. It's hard to feel happy when you feel like that.
  • @OrangeEv I can't tell that there are days that I'm not miserable. Especially at work when I'm throwing up! I teach special Ed preschool so I'm up and down all day and exhausted by lunch. Then I usually eat lunch and get sick. But the last two days it's stopped and it was a weird feeling. But I definitely feel you! It's overpowering!

  • I was freaking the heck out last week because I wasn't nauseated and all my pants fit. Now I feel mildly nauseated and am so incredibly cranky and tired that it's like, "yay," but I feel bad for the people I live with. Pregnancy is a mindf&%#.
  • My poor husband and my crankiness. It's been full force this weekend and I tried not to but... Lol

  • Yes, and I'm glad you posted this because it makes me feel better too. I was terribly sick during week 6, then felt for the most part pretty great last week (7) and of course it freaked me out. Now here I am first day of week 8 and I'm laying in bed because I feel terrible/so nauseous. Ugh!

  • It's so crazy how the symptoms come and go! My symptom that sticks is being tired! I'm already laying in bed and I doubt I'll make it to Walking Dead or Quantico! LOL

  • I totally get this.  This is my first pregnancy and I felt a little nauseous and had food aversions weeks 5-7 and have felt normal the last two weeks. I'm 9w now.  I guess I'm a tiny little bit more tired than usual but I feel pretty much normal.  I work a pretty demanding job and have been making it through my long days no problem, but definitely napping a lot on the weekend.  Assuming all is going well with the baby, this pregnancy thing is not that bad!  I have an OB appointment tomorrow because I'm paranoid...
  • I was tempted to make an OB appt but I have one the 24th

  • My m/s disappeared for one day in week 8 and I was terrified. Then it came back the next day with a vengeance. I had a good weekend this past weekend (fortunately,  it was a bridal shower/bachelorette weekend), but now I'm back to nauseated 24/7. I'm so exhausted, taking 16 credits, with one clinical day, and working 2 12's a week. I just can't do it anymore. I'm ready to start feeling better! I have my NT u/s next Thursday, and I think I'll be able to breathe easier after that.

Afternoons are usually the best time for me, night time past about 7:00 are the worst.  Occasionally I'll get a day where I have a few hours of actually feeling good.  I actually relish those times...99% of the time, the nausea is a constant reminder that I'm pregnant.  I'm honestly so jealous of the many friends I have with symptom-free 1st trimesters.  I cannot wait to feel normal!  By then I'm assuming I'll be far enough along to feel baby movements (if this is like my first, and so far it is).  Really my only time of not feeling pregnant is weeks 3-6.  Starting to forget what it's like to feel normal.  Waaa.

  • I'm in the same boat with you ladies.  Sunday night I was up half the night with such strong nausea even though I wasn't actually sick that I ended up staying home Monday and looked like death warmed over.  Then the rest of the week I've felt great! Yes still sick first thing in the morning and the nausea feeling comes in small waves, but perkiness is there.  Then I get scared cause what does this all mean?? Then I get nausea and that washes the fear away.  I have my second US next Tuesday, which will be 10 weeks so I feel like when that shows everything is going well, I will hopefully be able to relax and enjoy things more.

  • I know it seems crazy for me to say this but be happy that you have symptoms! Im 6+4 into my second pregnancy and ive not had a day of sickness, not even nausea! Im not bragging by any means, i would love to have something as some form of reassurance!
  • My symptoms have basically stopped for throwing up but I'm still tired and have gotten headaches here and there. I think the throwing up was reassuring and thats why I'm worried now! My Drs appt is the 24th :)

  • Exactly how I feel I thought I was the only one.
  • If it wasn't for the nausea I wouldn't believe I am pregnant. It still hasn't sinked in
  • It sounds silly but I wish I had more symptoms. I'm kind of tired and nap a lot on weekends, my breasts are sore and sensitive, but that's about it. I wouldn't mind a little nausea to help reassure me everything is all good. U/S on 4/7 can't come soon enough!

  • I know it's hard, but try not to wish for the symptoms, ladies!! 4 days ago I was enjoying the simple life of "sore boobs and sleepiness," also wishing to feel something more symptom-related. Then, wham, hit with 24/7 dizziness and nausea on Tuesday morning.  It's like I'm walking on a boat...but there's no boat! I want to go back to the bliss of sore boobs!
  • It's so reassuring to see that others are experiencing the symptom fluctuations! Although when I first found out I was pregnant, I was about 5 weeks, and I knew because of how terrible I felt. Extreme breast tenderness, fatigue, the queasiness. But once I hit week 8, my symptoms vanished. I occasionally feel a little gag reflex but other than that, I feel...normal. I saw my midwife who didn't seem concerned. I haven't heard the heartbeat or had an ultrasound which is causing a lot of my anxiety. I have one scheduled for 11 days from now and I CAN NOT wait to just have that reassurance.
  • @Knottie1451244983 that is pretty close to what I'm going through! I had really bad nausea 5-8 weeks. Since then, it really hasn't been bad at all, which worries me. I do still have sore breasts and tired so at least that's something. Doc couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler during my 8 week appt so I am praying I get to hear it at my 12 week. @MrsB627 I go in on the 24th as well! Can't wait to hear updates!

  • I spoke too soon ladies! My nausea and vomiting are back! I'm hoping it disappears at the 3 month mark in a week and a half!
Got some maternity pants for work today since I teach special Ed preschool and am up and down on the floor all day so I'm hoping that helps the tight feeling with the bloating because that had made me nausea too!

    @lilbabybrown I can't wait for the 24th either!!

  • Went in today for my 12 week appointment and FINALLY got to hear the heartbeat!  Took the doctor a while to find it so I was holding my breath.  But when we finally did, it was the sweetest sound!!  I don't get my first u/s until 20 weeks, so this was my first confirmation that there is an actual baby in there -- so happy!!!

@MrsB627 - let us know how your appointment goes!

  • yay for heartbeat @lilbabybrown !

I'm 11 weeks tomorrow (yay!) and I thought I had already started feeling better.  At week 10 I was feeling less nauseated...however there have still been days this week where I feel dizzy.  Yesterday I threw up my lunch. :(  But for the most part, I feel like I have a little bit more energy.... I'm still napping at lunch time whenever I can, but I feel like I'm starting to feel better and better!

Good luck with the appointment @MrsB627 , keep us posted!
  • I'm 12 weeks and besides not being Able to eat breakfast, I feel like I could run a marathon. Definitely don't "feel" pregnant anymore. It's a good thing to feel myself again though.
  • I've been feeling better too @wphillips0211 which made me a bit nervous but it feels good to not be sick all the time lol

  • I'm so thankful someone posted this. I'm 12 + 3 and I'm not feeling anything right now. I've had a headache since Sunday but other than that nothing. No pulling/stretching, no nausea, nothing. I have my 12 week appointment tomorrow and I am terrified there won't be a heartbeat. I can't think about it without crying. I had an ultrasound after some spotting at 9 weeks and I was able to see the baby and the little heart flickering so there's no reason for me to be this nervous. I just can't seem to help it.

Perhaps your heightened emotions/anxiety are your symptoms right now. Try to take a deep breath and relax. I know it's easier said than done, I've been there. *hugs*

  • Aw, @NicholeL16, it's so hard, isn't it? Between the hormones ramping up anxiety and the existence of that real worry that you can't do anything about, the first trimester is rotten. But 12 weeks is a really, really common time to start feeling better, and not that common a time for miscarriages (I want to say the risk is like 2% at this point -- not nothing, but certainly not what you should bet on!).

  • @duckmay it's SO hard. I never imagined I would feel this way. No one warns you about this part of pregnancy. I know the odds are so much better that I will hear a healthy heartbeat tomorrow. My So is really supportive and keeps assuring me that he thinks our baby is just fine. I feel like a crazy lady!
  • @MRSCORKER thank you! That's what I'm trying to do. I know worrying won't help anything.
  • @NicholeL16 I'm sure everything is OK. Keep us posted. Can't wait to hear the good news after you see your baby!

  • I felt normal from 11w3days til yesterday, 12w5days. Been feeling a lot of stretching as of lately. I had an ultrasound at 11w5days and everything was fine so try not to worry too much!
  • I've had some energy this week to the point that I've gotten myself nervous but at 14 weeks, I've been told getting energy back is normal. I have a checkup at 16 weeks so I just want to hear little mans heartbeat again! We don't have an ultrasound until the 20 week anatomy scan!

  • We were not able to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler this morning to they gave me a surprise ultrasound. Baby was wiggly and seems to have a strong heartbeat. So thankful!
