Help! Hcg dropped to 40 from 210, then period lasted for 6 days and today it rose to 110, why?

Don't want to scare you but I had a similar thing happen after my MMC. I was told that I had a complete molar pregnancy and my HCG continued to rise very slowly for over two months even after two D&Cs. I was sent to an oncologist and was told I had Gestational Trophoblastic Disease. A common treatment for GTD is chemotherapy. By some miracle I started bleeding heavily two months after my second D&C and had contraction-like cramps which made my HCG finally drop to 0 and didn't need chemo. GTD is EXTREMELY rare though but you should talk to your doctor. 

Of course it may also be possible that you were carrying twins and lost one or you have retained pregnancy tissue. Either way you need to talk to your doctor. I hope you get some answers!

@eb0830 thank you. But my highest Hcg is 222, then it dropped. I heard that molar pregnancy is with very high Hcg.

Would there be any chance you may have had two little ones in there and lost one? Hope this turns out okay for you...

It may be ectopic. I would be carefully monitored. With an ectopic your level could raise to over a thousand. I got a bfp and they told me I was going to miscarry. A few days later I bled heavily for three days and went in for a blood test and my hcg rose. And kept rising. It ended up being an ectopic.

@drove2u thank you very much! I just came back for re for a ultrasound. The result is normal and my lining has decreased from 13.5 to 5. The re told me to do a Hcg blood test again next Monday and see the trend.

what is your highest level of Hcg during your ectopic pregancy? Did you feel any pain?

Are your numbers going up or down? My levels rose to over 200 I believe. No pain. They gave me a couple of shots of methotrexate and eventually it resolved itself. I feel very lucky that I was being monitored and it didn't rupture.

@Sarah1516 this sounds very similar to my possible ectopic back in December. My HCG only went up to 100, I was told I would naturally miscarry. I bled for two weeks, HCG went down to 33 then back up to 60. It fluctuated between 75 and 18 for two weeks, so my RE gave me two doses of methotrexate. After two weeks on methotrexate my HCG finally went down to zero. RE could not confirm ectopic because numbers were too low to see on an US, but he said HCG fluctuation is typical for an ectopic. It was a very difficult month for me. I am so sorry you are going through this.
