This is probably not unpopular but why do new moms suddenly become experts to almost new moms? My new mom friend basically lectured me and my pg bff at my baby shower about breast feeding and sleep training etc. Thanks for the advice but this is not baby school, no lectures please.
I (mostly) hate under belly maternity pants. I have exactly one pair, actually cotton shorts and those are okay. But any other pair I've tried I hated. Maybe its because I have a lot of underbelly cramping and they are uncomfortable, I don't know. But I don't feel like they support me. I feel exposed, like my belly is going to pop out at any time. I'm also the girl who will not wear shirts that got just to my waistband, I have to have long tank tops under all my shirts or shirts with extra length (pregnant or not).
I hate it when couples share a facebook account. I automatically assume that it's because they have trust issues.
I use to think that too but my dad and stepmom shared an account for years because he didn't understand how it works and rarely got on. He has his own now but it took my stepmom and I a long time to explain it to him. He just wasn't getting it. He's on most days now and is a pro but it took awhile lol

I agree it can be annoying and usually done at the wrong time, but I would rather get advice over negative feedback like "oh your body will never be the same forget about abs" or laugh at your face when you tell them your ginna try to work from home. My SIL acts all mighty because she's a special Ed teacher (nothing against teachers) but she over does it. She acts like her way of raising her child is the best way and judges other mothers behind their back. To each their own and I just hold my tongue.
I see nothing wrong with at-home induction methods if you are at term (minus the caster oil-that's dangerous). They won't work if the baby isn't ready, and may not even work then. So go ahead, have sex, go for a walk, eat spicy food, whatever you want. I think it beats sitting on the couch waiting for something to happen.

Not to get too political, but there's this thing I've been seeing, where certain folks on the left (mostly white, mostly dudes) strongly criticize the Republican frontrunner for being a homophobic misogynist racist xenophobe, and also strongly criticize those who support their candidate's primary opponent (many POC, many women) for not realizing how much better their candidate is at tackling issues of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Those same people, when faced with the hypothetical question of who they'd vote for in a matchup between Trump and the other Democratic candidate, indicate that they'll vote for Trump because "At least he's honest and you know where he stands." Uh, yeah. Over there with the bigots, as you've already acknowledged.
The commitment to equality on these people. How could anyone possibly question what they have to tell them about which candidate best represents their interests?
Regardless of my own feelings on the race and who I support and/or will vote for, I just want to punch every single one of those guys in the teeth. I cannot wait for this election to be over.

This is what is SO SCARY. I'm a Republic and personally do not like either Democratic candidate, AT ALL (which may be an UO in itself, whatevs, this is the place, right?). But the idea of Trump as president is equally as nervewracking. I truly do not know what I'm going to do if that is my option. Write in Kanye?

I actually really feel for Republicans, insofar as voting for a Dem might mean voting for principles and policies you actively oppose (even if you also oppose large portions of what Trump stands for). Only one solution, so far as I can see:

I am pretty right down the middle. I agree with republicans on some issues and democrats on others, though I do tend to lean more democrat and often vote that way. Our primary is April 5th - WI is an open primary vote - and I am tempted to pull a GOP ballot specifically to vote AGAINST Trump.
@AGK2015 That is most definitely the problem. So it is no secret on this board that I'm a Republican and pretty conservative. So it may not come as a surprise to many that I am pro-life (pretty hard core, would never condemn anyone who makes a choice for them, but I would definitely feel a certain way about it without conveying that to them). A candidates stance on that can immediately make up my mind about them. I hate saying this, but I don't know if I could, in good conscience, vote in that election. I'd probably vote third party if anything...
I feel the need to clarify that I do not support the Republicans, but...
I think Hillary Clinton should have had to quit running for president long ago. That woman should be in prison for her irresponsible treatment of classified information. It seems like she is just getting a break for being rich and the ex-first lady and I don't know why no one seems to give a shit about this. I worked in Intelligence and this is serious shit. She at the very least should have her security clearances revoked, which would make her unable to be our president, who has the highest clearances.
The funny thing about Trump is that his stances up until now have nearly all been more liberal than most republicans would ever vote for. He's only gaining support because he "speaks his mind" (I.e. is an egotistical bigot). I told my very right-wing mother that if trump is the republican candidate I'll vote democrat (depending on the candidate) or independent/Green Party, because I'd rather chew off my own arm than serve under that piece of shit. She cried and advised me to pray about it.

THANK YOU. I know who I'm voting for in the primaries (Mine is March 15th), but if Trump is the nominee, there is absolutely no way I'm voting for him OR the Dem nominee in the November election. All of them stand for things that I'm opposed to (or in the case of Trump, you don't know where he actually stands on anything because he's flip flopped so much, and up until 2010, was a Democrat...). Write in vote, here I come!

I think this is a good summary of why I could never vote for Cruz either. I cannot, in good conscious, vote for him since he said that he "is a Christian first and an American second." That is NOT presidential; our country is not made up of solely Christians.

I love how you and I have the same mom at times... She's eventually just started assuming that her and my father's votes cancel mine out.
@imrachella I am very liberal. Excruciatingly liberal actually... But I'm not voting for Clinton or Sanders. Like @RoseShadow873 stated, Clinton should not have the ability to run for president at this point. I love what Samders stands for, but I fervently do not believe he would be able to do what he wants to do. I voted 3rd party last election, and probably will again this time.
Sorry that was more rambly than I meant for it to be. My original intended point was that I won't vote for someone based on how they feel towards an individual issue. I used to, because gay marriage was and is a very important issue to me, but there is so much more going on in our nation than social issues, which abortion falls under imo. As well as marijuana legalization, and a few others I'm not thinking of at the time.

I don't believe Sanders can do what he claims either, but I don't think any candidates ever can. They only have so much power. My thinking is at least he has the best intentions and I'm sure he would do as much as he could. That's about all we can hope for with the government the way it is. I'm quite of the opinion that our government needs a serious revolution.

I say good luck. With DD I went 9 days late and tries the sex, tried the spicy food, ect. Still no go except a happy husband, heartburn and some pain from walking and scrubbing floors. Baby definitely comes when he/she is ready.

I was considering doing the same thing, because at the end of the day barring something really shocking happening, I'll vote for the Democratic candidate in the general no matter who it is. However, there are some state and local primaries where I have a strong preference, so I don't think I can do it.
I did ask my uber-conservative mother which candidate she'd prefer on the Republican ticket to get a sense of who I might vote for if I did vote the GOP ballot. In a bizarre twist, she told me she couldn't actually give me advice because she's actually going to vote in the Dem primary... for Bernie Sanders (not because she agrees with a single thing he's ever said in his entire career, but because she just hates Hillary Clinton that much but doesn't have a strong preference among the non-Trump Republicans). Well... okay then.

That's pretty much how I feel about it too, but tbh if any of the home methods worked, I'd have gone into labor like once or twice a week since third tri started. And yeah, no go on the caster oil...
My coworker and I were discussing this today. We feel like this election will be voting against the person you don't support, not for a person you do support... Which is a sad state of affairs for the US.
I'm at the point of hoping that there is enough 3rd party voting that there is no absolute majority and that the HoR would pick a republican-leaning libertarian like Gary Johnson over Trump or Hillary.
That said, I'm assuming it'll be Hillary based on CNNs numbers, but I have no idea how superdelegates work. Seems like they're just a big screw you from the DNC to the voters who would choose against a "party approved" candidate.

Yeah, superdelegates are just a way for the DNC to have final say in the voting process, which is why I'm for GOP staying with a non-brokered convention. Despite the apparent idiocy of the GOP voters thus far. At this point, I think it will be Hillary over Bernie, just because of the superdelegates, and because he's having such a hard time getting any kind of majority with voters over 30.

Yes and no. Superdelegates are absolutely a check on voters to ensure that they don't select a nominee who isn't palatable to the DNC, but practically speaking superdelegates don't generally override voters' choices, and don't seem to be poised to do so now (and even if they did, anybody who feels strongly about the superdelegate issue could run as an independent), so it's not as though they're going to throw the nomination to someone who isn't palatable to Dem voters, too. Then again, I don't know that there's ever been a situation on the Democratic side quite like what's going on in the GOP today, where the frontrunner is not only pretty universally hated by the party establishment but is also almost certainly going to be a disaster for America. It's almost too bad that the GOP doesn't have a similar check in place, because if they did it would be difficult to imagine The Donald getting the nod.
Oh a lighter note, following the showering post: I wash my hair MAYBE once a week, probably not even that much. It doesn't get oily anymore and it's crazy healthy. Plus, it takes me WAYYY less time every day to get ready. The only downside is that having "dirty" hair for getting an updo, all day curls, etc is a process vs just not washing my hair the night before.
3 miscarriages - 1 DS (6) - 1 DD (3) - #3 due March 30!

I guess I don't understand how Hillary can have ~66% of the pledged delegates and 96% of the superdelegates. Especially when there are SO MANY superdelegates. How is it that the voting can be so close in so many states (sometimes evenly splitting the pledged delegates) and then have all of the superdelegates go to one candidate?
I agree completely that I wish there was a way to vote out a candidate - splitting the "anti-Trump" vote 2 (well technically 4) ways isn't doing anyone but Trump any good.

I *maybe* wash mine every 5 or 6 days. I often go a week. It's the healthiest it's ever been; not ever greasy.

I usually go every two days without washing, but I have unnaturally oily hair, and live in a humid climate, so when it's hot here, I have to wash it at least every other day.

Mine also gets washed weekly, though I have to shower every day because these hormones plus work uniform means I'm sweaty and disgusting all the time. I'm counting on that quickly changing after LO arrives.

Same here. I can go a day between washes but more than that, I look like a garbage pail kid.
I could go a really long time without washing my hair since it and my scalp are really dry. I should wash it less but I wash it every day anyway because it just makes me feel cleaner and more refreshed (I also think it helps with the frizz and tangles). I stopped using real shampoo though. I use a cleansing conditioner that doesn't have any soap in it.
My UO for today - I think dogs are the worst pets.
They are so gross! I am tired of watching my 3 dogs sniff each other's asses and privates, and eat random poop from the dog park. Then they want to lick you!!!! Like hell no, ya little nasty!
On top of that, they turn up their noses at the expensive, healthy dog food we buy for them. Seriously? Wtf tastes WORSE than POOP???
Then there's the nonsense barking. Why? Why?! That person/squirrel/cat/delivery truck is 5 miles away!! Is barking really necessary?
If they bark and wake the baby when she's here, I'm going to go homicidal.
I know a lot of people love dogs, and that's ok! Clearly, I am a cat person, 100%

And see? I find cats to be the most useless creatures. Except sometimes they'll catch bugs/rodents but so do dogs.

To bring the funny (and it's funny because it's probably not that far from the truth):

Clearly, I am a cat person, 100%
lol
