Charlotte Annaliese--Born Two Weeks Ago

Hey ladies,

As most of you know and understand, it is crazy during and after baby is born. This is why it's taken me two weeks to update here. Here is our story :)

On February 16th I woke up while my husband was getting ready for work and felt some water plop out of me and onto my pad, it was weird. I went to the bathroom thinking I unbelievably peed myself for the first time at 39 weeks. When I stood up and walked it happened again, then up the stairs it happened again. I told H that I might be leaking. We agreed he'd go to work, since it's 5 minutes away, and I would call the dr. The dr recommended we come in. We got there around 9:00 am and went through various tests to see if my water did indeed break. First two came back negative, then another positive, then another negative, and finally another positive. 5 tests or 3 different kinds and two were positive. The dr kept telling us our story sounded great, but it kept looking like I just peed. I wasn't having that, and thankfully passed the tests she needed. For the remainder of the day we laid in the hospital while I started to really get contractions, then I labored naturally as long as I could to progress. At around 9 pm, the dr came in and fully burst my water. Then at 11:00 ish, I was given a very minimal amount of pitocin to try to regulate my contractions which the dr kept calling "beautiful contractions." Apparently she loved watching them because they looked so great. I labored on an exercise ball, on the toilet, then on a toilet chair they had to place in the middle of the room since I was on an IV and Pitocin now, as well as dancing with my H. I leaned on him and just swayed and then fell onto him with hard labor. At around 3:30 am I couldn't do it anymore and asked for an epidural because I wasn't dialating any further. Within 10 minutes of the epidural I passed out. Woke up the next morning and the nurse said I was 6-7 cm and fully effaced. I then used this peanut ball thing which helped open my pelvis. A little bit later she came and checked me again...suddenly 9 cm. I made so much progress and felt nothing. When the nurse checked me she could already see the head since baby girl had been so low so H and the student nurses checked it out. I was finally ready to push and 40 minutes later Charlotte popped out!

We did have an issue with jaundice before leaving the hospital and had to brig home a wallaby blanket, which SUCKED. A few days later we were admitted back o the hospital and had her placed in one of those incubators to get her levels back up. One day later we were on our way home. We are all doing very well and very happy.
