Sick!

it has been a scary couple of days for me. I had a bad cold on the weekend and then on Monday I had a low-grade fever. I called the nurse hotline at the IVF clinic (they have not assigned me to a regular OB yet) and they said a fever is not worrisome until it reaches 103. My highest was 101.2. By evening I was freaking out because I took a Tylenol and it would go down and then come back. Husband took me to a walk-in clinic and they said there was no sign of fluid in my lungs (so, not pneumonia) or no spots in my throat (so, not strep). They said to keep the fever down with Tylenol and stop worrying about it.

Yesterday morning I was at 99.9, took one more Tylenol, and was fine. The fever never came back. I am still coughing a little, but feel much better. I am taking one more sick day from work just in case. No signs of bleeding or anything; proto-baby seems fine? Somebody please reassure me that these things happen and everything is probably okay and the proto-baby is tougher than I think he is?

Re: Sick!

  • These things happen a lot and your baby is probably just fine. :) I got sick early on when pregnant with each of my kids.

  • These things definitely happen and unfortunately you get used to it.  These things especially happen to babies allll the time! You'll be a pro at handling fevers before you know it.

ugh that sounds awful and here I am complaining about a little cold :( I hope you feel better soon!

I had a pretty severe UTI at 6 weeks (fever and all) and my kid turned out just fine. These things happen a lot.

  • I've had cold symptoms the past 5 days or so, but no fevers. I called my primary, told her the situation, and she told me not to worry about it, even if I were to have a low grade fever. She told me to call her again if symptoms don't go away in 10 days, so hopefully they will be gone by then! She recommended Tylenol if needed, and hot tea and honey.
  • Hope you feel better soon! Being sick and growing a human is rough!
