burping

hello FTM and expirience mothers.. my son is 8 weeks old... I am breastfeeding him and I am having hard time burping him.. tried everything possible. I would try for an hour he wouldn't burp.. I would put him back to bed.. I did this all night last night. in the morning when I was feeding him he just spits out lots of milk. he us getting wet diapers and pooping okay.. but all day today he hasn't burp once and I am scared that he might spits everything again. . he us also on prevacid for acid reflux.. I went to my dr 2 weeks ago.. and he was gaining weight fine.. I have appointment with pediatrician on the Friday.  but it just worry me that if he is drinking enough milk and why it is hard for him to burp... he doesn't sleep well at night as well. does anyone experienced this...

He may not need to burp. Early morning feeds are very common for you to have a bit of an over supply which could be why he's spitting a lot at that time. Try reclining for that feed to give him more control over his intake. It's hard to say for sure, but  they definitely don't always have to burp. So if he seems content I doubt it's that, plus when they spit up it's only from the most recent feeding- nothing previous, that would be far more digested. Sometimes it seems like a ton I'm sure but it probably a lot less than you think.

I'm finding that my LO doesn't always burp either.. But as long as they seem comfortable I think it's fine. However, I have tried propping her up like she's sitting on my thigh and slowly circling her around (like you're stirring a big pot with baby ha!) or leaning her side to side a few times and then patting her back. Seems to work sometimes. My LC suggested those methods. Good luck!

Mine rarely burps after breastfeeding, only after ge gets a bottle.  He will spit up if I move him to quickly right after eating though
