Once bitten twice shy?

DD bit me last night! 3 times!! While I was nursing her before bed- she was almost completely asleep so I just disengaged but then she was rooting around & thus 3 times that happened. Finally I just ended it. She fell asleep anyway but...has your lo done this yet?? She hasn't done it since but yikes!

Yes DD has bitten down on mine a couple times. It wasn't super painful but definitely wasn't pleasant. She does that to a pacifier so I knew it was coming. Won't be a huge issue til she gets teeth. I was saying that may be the end of our nursing relationship. But I heard a couple people say when they got bit they kind of hollered out and that scared their LO and it never happened again.

Yes! I have a fast letdown and my girl is a huge pain about latching because she doesn't like the fast flow. She will gum and bite, latch and unlatch, latch then pull off with her head, you name it. I have not figured out how to improve this behavior, so I usually try to wait her out and she will eventually get with the program. I am currently trying different positions that keep gravity in her favor, but it's not improving this behavior. My poor nipples!

DS did once last week when we resumed nursing after our thrush went away. I yelped, and there was actually a little scab on my nipple I noticed two days later. Luckily that's the only time he's done it to date. I absolutely have no intention of nursing once DS has teeth.

I'm the lucky mommy of a chomper... since day one!!!  When my pediatrician came to check him out at the hospital after he was born, she put her finger in his mouth (testing whatever it is they test) she looked at me with pity said "you've got a biter"!  It's been a fun breastfeeding journey because of that... and I'm so not looking forward to when he had teeth!!!  I keep telling his dad that he has to teach him how to treat a boob! :-)
