Flu

Say a prayer or send good vibes, the flu has hit my house despite both of us having  had the flu shot. My fiancé went to the Dr yesterday and is being treated, but baby Jackson woke up with a temp overnight coughing. I called the on call and all I can do is give him Tylenol and the boob until I bring him in when the office opens.

Re: Flu

  • Prayers to baby, fiancé & you. Feel better soon!!

  • Feel better!! Thinking of all of you.

Also,  if you don't mind my asking, what kind of oils do you diffuse? I used to be really into EOs, and I miss them.
  • Hoping you all feel better soon!
  • Hope u all feel better!
  • @mhuber2380 young living,  I'm diffusing thieves nonstop with a drop of lemon EO for this
  • Ugh those flu shots. Look, I vaccinate as much as the next person but the flu shot is SO annoying. Because it protects against LAST YEAR'S strains (ie: known strains)

This is great. Except that with our highly cosmopolitan society, exotic international flus are coming through airports daily - and those are easy peasy to catch. Not only do we not have shots for most of them, our immune systems have zero clue how to fight them.

Make sure baby can breathe, is not bleeding and is not running a high temperature (over 101 i think) and if those bases are covered, you'll be ok to take LO into the pedi when they open. If any of this stuff happens, go straight to emerg.
  • @groovylocks pediatrician didn't want me to bring him in today,  they wanted me to monitor his temperature & make sure he stayed hydrated & call in again every few hours. They don't give babies flu medication. He is doing much better tonight

Actually this years flu shot includes the main strain going around this year.
  • Jackson's cough and intermittent low grade fever wasn't from his daddy's flu. We were just discharged from the Children's Hospital because my poor baby had RSV pneumonia. So scary. I should have insisted on bringing him in and having him tested last Tuesday and maybe I could have avoided a hospital stay and having to hold my baby still while they stuck him with IVs. Word of caution, trust your instincts and INSIST on bringing baby in if you feel it's necessary. Don't let the nurses, PAs and on call physician make a judgment over the phone of it's just a cold.
  • Poor baby!  Glad you got him to the hospital.
