Nursery Inspiration Help

Hello! Decorating is not one of my strong suits, so was hoping to have a little help from more talented people to pull together our nursery.  I love all the pieces individually, I just don't know how to tie it together and what kind of bedding to pick.  I think I gravitate towards neutrals with pops of color, but open to suggestions.  Baby boy is due in June. Thank you!

The walls are already painted a light grey.

We bought this crib and dresser:

And this chair (and a picture of the fabric swatch up close):

And we have this painting we love that I think would be perfect in a nursery:

Maybe you could do a library theme? I've seen bedding with ABC's on it. And rugs too. Decorate with those building blocks with letters on them, put bookshelves (you know the ones with just one board nailed to the wall, not an entire piece of furniture) on your wall and fill them with books, keep everything in neutrals and warm wood tones like in those homey libraries. Depending on the bedding you find, choose a coordinating pop of color for throw pillows and other smaller decorative details. If you have a favorite inspirational literary quote, search for wall decals of it and use that to fill empty wall space.

  • You don't have to have a theme, just fyi.  Sometimes the most beautiful spaces are eclectic.
The pieces you posted are all very neutral and simple - play on that.  I think crisp neutral colors would look beautiful with very sporadic pops of color.
The painting adds a lot of color, so if it were me, personally, I'd let that be my "POP!" and play everything down.

  • I think you could decorate the room around that picture.  You could have all your neutral colors with pops of red, navy, and green.  Our son's nursery doesn't have a theme, its just all based around navy, grey, Kelly green and turquoise.

  • I would also second the "no theme" theme. I  like your simplicity and the stuff you have picked. They are neutral and you could go in a lot of different directions (I know, part of the problem). Maybe you could pick a neutral but interesting paint color that matches one of the books, or like PPs suggested. I think your intuition will lead you to pick the right pieces in terms of blankies, sheets, etc.

  • I went with a color scheme and not a theme for our girl. I would pull a few colors from the book photo add a colored rug and throw for the chair. Simple and classy. The lighting isn't great for pictures in this room! You can also bring in some color or a pattern with the curtains
