Just had my first beta drawn this morning and I'm waiting for the result - I should get a call within the next few hours. I'm terrified. I was first turning FRERs clearly positive on Friday evening. I know from past experience that they can turn positive when I have a serum beta as low as 5.8mIU (seriously - I had a blood draw an hour after a positive FRER one time and that was my beta.)
I'm hoping my beta is in the range of 20+. I'm at least 12DPO, may be as far as 15. Because my RE wasn't expecting the cycle to work out, we didn't follow up to confirm my ovulation date so I don't know exactly how many days in I am and I'm calculating my due date by what we're counting as LMP.
I'm more than a little scared. My last pregnancy was ectopic and the beta started low and was very slow to rise (it was 5.8 at 17DPO, then 18 two days later. then 36 two days later, so it was doubling but way below what it should have been.) so I'm paranoid. If this beta comes back over 50, I will breathe a sigh of relief. If it's over 100, I'll dance.
I could just use some good thoughts and well-wishes and whatnot. My stomach is in absolute knots right now.

Good luck and t&p your way! I was super nervous for my betas as well...for no reason other than my anxiety gets the best of me most the time.
fx for you and wonderful beta numbers!

Within a few hours. You get your results same-day if you have it drawn by 10am. They usually call by 4 and it's 1pm now. I'll call if I haven't heard by 4:30.

They just called. Beta is 24, which would not be unexpectedly low for 12 DPO (which is the more likely timeframe) but I'd still rather it be higher just to put my mind at ease. Progesterone was a lovely 37 though.
Repeat on Wednesday.

Sounds like positive news! Fingers crossed you get nice high numbers on Wednesday!

I completely understand your anxiety. I got a digital BFP today at 9 or 10 DPO and my beta came back at 15. RE said it's likely because I tested so early and they'd typically pull betas 3/4 days later. She said to be cautiously optimistic but she wants to see the numbers above 45 on Wednesday morning. I keep telling myself, "today, you are pregnant. Take it one day at a time because you've done all you can."
Thoughts and prayers for you!

Thanks. Went and had my blood drawn already (we had a snowstorm last night so getting there for right at 7am was a challenge!) but 1:30pm now feels like it's forever away.
Got my second beta. It exactly doubled in exactly 45 hours. Beta was 48 (24 Monday at 10am), progesterone 55 (37 Monday)
It's still pretty low, and my healthy pregnancies have historically been in the hundreds by now, so I'm feeling pretty defeated. I realize my numbers are 'technically' good, but my experience and what little clinical judgement I have at this point in my training tells me that this likely is not going to be a viable pregnancy and I should prepare for the worst. (Around 20% of ectopic pregnancies have hCG that doubles in 48 hours and this is what happened last time. Really low beta, doubled at first then stopped.)
My next draw will be Saturday.

Not sky high numbers for me now, but I'm doubling so I'll take it for now. This part is agonizing. I just want to get past 7 weeks ( when I had my loss) and I think I'll calm down a bit.
Thank you for all the good wishes and everything everyone. I'm finding it very hard to be hopeful and have been in tears since yesterday for the most part. I've started having some pain on the lower right and while I'm hoping it's a CL cyst or just my pissy ovary being its usual jerk self, I'm not optimistic. I know it's not over until it's over, though. I'm going to push for an ultrasound on Saturday, given that I now have the pain. I know it's unlikely to see much (I'll be 4+5) but it might be possible to at least see a sac and perhaps a yolk sac. Ectopics can have pseudosacs in the uterus so a sac alone wouldn't prove its not ectopic, but if there's a yolk sac it would be suggestive of an IUP. I know they usually won't do U/S until the 'discriminatory level' (I think my RE's office uses 1000mIU) but my last ectopic was visible at 330 so I might be able to push a bit for it.

@whaat, yep, betas are usually only done for women who are high risk, have a history of multiple miscarriages, or were going through fertility treatments.
@whaat What RiverSong15 said. I'm all three; high risk, repeat loss, and going through fertility treatments. Special snowflake, me. I'm still being seen by my RE's (fertility specialist) office and will be until 8-ish weeks.

@riversong15@kilgravemademedoit thanks for the info. I was worried I was missing something. This is my first so I kind of feel like I just got to school and people are asking me if I studied for the test I didn't know we had. TG for these forums so I can ask!

Not knowing about these things is a good thing. Infertility/repeat loss is the club you never want to join, so it's very good you aren't familiar with all of this. It means you have had no reason to become familiar with it and I'm glad that's the case for you.
Also, you'll be old hat at all the parenting and pregnancy lingo before long.

My numbers don't look good from my beta today. Only a 66% rise. Have an ultrasound Monday to rule out ectopic. This is exactly the pattern of hcg rise, etc that happened w my last loss. Send positive thought to MD please.
