Re: The Oscars!

  • Best Picture: The Revenant but I'd be stoked if Mad Max:Fury Road ended up winning
Leading Actor: Leo better win... he's long overdue for a win and his performance was insane
Leading Actress: Brie Larson- but she should split the Oscar in half and give it to the little boy in the film b/c he got snubbed and his performance was absolutely heartbreaking.
Supporting Actor: Sylvester Stallone--- this would make my night if he won because Rocky.
Supporting Actress: the only movie I watched in this category was Spotlight so I don't have a favorite but I feel like Kate Winslet wins it
    Directing: The Revenant
Costume Design: Mad Max- because it should win something!!
Cinematography: Revenant-- but again it'd be awesome if Mad Max won this
Music: Earned It- because how awesome would it be if Fifty Shades of Grey won an Oscar!

Looking forward to seeing what Rachel McAdams (because she's perfection) and Brie Larson (loved her GG dress) are wearing!

  • So excited, I may actually stay awake past 9:30pm for the first time in 4 months.  I haven't seen any of the films this year so no real opinion, though I am rooting for Leo just on principle.  We don't have cable anymore so I'm bummed I can't watch the red carpet on E!.

  • It's on at 4am here so I'm going to go to bed early and get up for it - hopefully to see Leo finally win!
  • Usually by now I've seen trailers for everything so I can make my predictions but we've been so busy I totally forgot they were today! We will be watching for sure. I really hope Leo finally gets it!
  • We don't have cable but we have a HD Antenna. I made DH move it twice till we finally got ABC in clearly

We have antennas too! One in the living room and one in the bedroom.  We can't pick up ABC in the bedroom which I'm bummed about.

Really important question: are you guys doing anything yummy for snacks?

  • Love watching the oscars!! This may be the first year I haven't seen any of the best pic nominees tho. I'm on the Leo loving bandwagon. He's been so deserving so many years. I heard great things about his Revenant performance and I sure hope he wins!! Kate Hudson is always a stunning dresser. I agree with Rachel McAdams too!
  • I'm hoping to watch it but don't have any predictions other than wanting Leo to win!

  • No predictions really besides Leo for Best Actor but this is the first year in many that I've actually seen a bunch of the movies nominated and feel like I can have an opinion haha
  • Love that you did this!  Such a movie geek.  I'm going to put what I want to win and then what will probably win because I'm cynical and from LA.

  • Leo finally won his Oscar! So happy for him
  • I did horrible with my predictions but so worth watching just for Leo!

  • I love the clothes, I have to say. This year, I was struck with how perfect and classy Cate Blanchett is regardless of what she wears (she was beautiful as always), and I absolutely hated Olivia Wilde's dress from the front (love the open back).

  • So glad Leo finally won! The only movie nominated which I had seen was Max Max, unfortunately. I agree the costumes/make-up were neat, and there were a lot of bright colors/contrast, but otherwise it was a pretty blah movie... just a bunch of monster trucks driving around in the Namibian desert. They deserved the awards they won, but I'm glad they didn't win Best Picture. Also, I was super moved by Lady GaGa's performance - it actually made both me and DH tear up. I'm sad that she didn't win and that instead Sam Smith's song for Spectre won. I know Sam Smith is popular/a favorite right now, but it's really not that great of a song IMO!
  • I screamed when Leo won and then because of my abundance of feelings I teared up watching Kate Winslet watch him. LOL! Also teared up during the Gaga performance. Too many feels!

  • I love award shows. Even though I'd only seen one movie in its entirety (Inside Out with DD!), I stayed up past midnight to catch the whole show. DH and I are on a mission to watch the nominated movies. We were just discussing how few movies we've seen since DD was born in 2012. I'm so happy that Leo finally won! And Chris rock did a great job hosting in a difficult situation. The only part that sucked was Stacey Dash. It was obvious that the audience was like, "GTFO!" LOL
  • @quartz02 I watched too and have seen none of the movies and didn't know who half the actors were. DD is one and a half and I haven't been to a theater for about 1 and a half years. Still fun to watch though.
