Ovarian Torsion aka "the least amount of fun I have ever had"

My iui was cancelled this cycle due to too many mature follicles. That was about two weeks ago. I honestly got the cancellation news and hadn't thought much about treatment since then. Figured I had a little break where I could enjoy wine without guilt...

Well that came to a crashing end this morning when I experienced two hours of the absolute worst pain ever!!! Apparently post ovulation of those "too many" follicles, I developed rather large cysts that have my right ovary swollen to the size of a GRAPEFRUIT. This morning it TWISTED and disrupted the blood supply causing me to actually think I was going to die!!! Luckily it has since twisted back and I am fine and dandy. But there is nothing they can do about the swelling and as long as my ovary is enlarged it is at risk of flipping again.

the doctor said it is actually kind of an emergency and would require emergency surgery if it happened again and the blood supply was cut off for too long. Soooooo I will be sitting here on my couch watching Netflix for the indefinite future.

Has this happened to anyone else????

Oh wow @pcosat25 I only heard about it as I had my ovaries swollen up with IVF, but was lucky not to get it,
Do take it easy as I don't want you to go through that again and ending up with surgery.
All the things you have to deal with!

Try to enjoy Netflix, wine and sofa time as you'll be there a while. GL!

Thanks ladies!!! I guess hopefully this is a cautionary tale. We all need to really take it easy following stims. I hope none of you ever have to experience it.
