Hello everyone! I'm 33 yo, been married for a bit over a year, and have an 8 year old son from a previous marriage. My husband has male factor infertility to where it will never be possible for us to conceive naturally so we are embarking on this IVF journey.
My doctor has me on the long protocol and so I've been on BCP since 2/5, just started on Lupron injections on 2/25, and will add in menopur and Follistim over the course of about the next two weeks or so. So far everything seems fine, I've gained some weight since the start of all this, the BCP gives me some water retention and the Lupron injections aren't too bad, they do sting a bit for me and make me extremely tired though. The doctor is excited that I have a lot of follicles for him to work with, but is concerned about over stimulating and OHSS because of this. He has me drinking at least one 25g protein Muscle Milk a day to try to prevent that. If all goes well I should be going in for ET probably around mid March.
We have decided to go with PGS testing as we want to ensure the best odds possible in having a successful IVF. My work insurance covers a small portion of some of the procedures, but we are coming out of pocket for most of the expenses and we only have enough for one round of IVF so I guess you can call this our first and last shot of having a baby together.
The doctor also recommended a mock cycle for the transfer, I'm hoping someone with experience with this can shed some light as far as what it entails and how much more time it adds to the journey.
I wish everyone the best in their journeys and hope for success for everyone on this board! I look forward to meeting everyone and having support and supporting others through this journey. Thank you for having me!
Re: Introducing myself (child mentioned)
I only heard about a mock trial on here, so no information to share on that.
But wanted you to feel welcome, so thought I'd give a quick hi!
You said you only can afford one IVF, will this included rounds of FET if you have enough embryos to freeze?
Wishing you GL on your journey, we are entering spring and that's when everything start growing...so we couldn't pick a better time to let those babies grow

I didn't know you could be overstimulated and I was just slightly, but my clinic went ahead as they said I was fine.
Would I have known in advance I wouldn't have accepted it as my body was in no mood to take care of that embryo. Poor thing never had a chance
I find FET much easier to handle, and for me it doesn't include any injections, just pills (orally and suppositories, latter is a right mess) so I'm much more relaxed.
We all are nervous, so do ask when you wonder about something, as you don't need that extra worry to carry around.
